European Club Football 2019/2020
Okay, this thread probably is about eight months late. In my defence, I haven't been very active on this Forum over the last couple of years. They say "better late than never" and hopefully that's the case here.
To comment on the Premier League, Liverpool have looked invincible this Season; Klopp truly has transformed Liverpool. In the past, I said negative things about Klopp, and I was wrong to do so. I judged him too quickly, without giving him enough time to prove his full potential. It looks like we might have entered an era where Liverpool are going to be top dogs for the many years to come. There is however, the issue of the Coronavirus, which has resulted in most football getting suspended. What do you think is going to happen with the football leagues and competitions? Do you think the football will resume at a later point? Do you think they will scarp the season and start a new season in the future? Maybe they might end the season as it is, and decide that the teams who are top get promoted and the teams who are bottom get relegated? I haven't had any access to the media for over two years, so apologies if this stuff has already been discussed. I look forward to hearing thoughts and opinions. If they do scrap the season, then I would imagine that Liverpool would be most gutted; their first Premier League title was at their mercy. They've come close to winning it on numerous occasions, if they lose it to the Coronavirus, then we might have to ask ourselves if Liverpool are hated by fate. |

Scrapping the season (and awarding the title to Liverpool) is the least worst option. I really don't see any other outcome.

If they suspend the season and continue at a later date then this would probably result in the European Championship getting postponed and next season being delayed. If they were to void the season then teams who are currently top will miss out on silverware/promotion/playoffs/Europa League/Champions League/etc. If they decide to end it now and promote/relegate teams based on their current positions then teams who might have climbed out of the drop-zone will still be relegated. Teams who might have climbed into the play offs/promotion will miss out on the possibility to get promoted. Not only that, but the number of games that teams have played isn't necessarily equal to other teams in their league, and this could be unfair on teams who have games in hand. An example being your own Aston Villa who could climb out of the drop-zone by winning their spare game. |
