Default Meta2tr_v8a

Hello
sorry for the inconvenience, I have a problem with the Meta2tr_v8a program.

Now I will try to explain briefly what happens to me:
1 ) I load my Franky.TR4 on meta2tr.exe and run it to the end.
2 ) I open Metasequoia and load my object to be modified, except for everything
3 ) I drag my modified object onto Meta2tr.exe and run until the end
4 ) gate the Franky.TR4 and rename newleve.TR4 ib Franky.tr4
5 ) I open Wdamerger and load the Franky.TR4 on the right side with LOAD TR and I receive the following error:
ReadTR -> Error Reading level loading object textinfo
Run-time error 6 Overflow

Question: please explain to me what I am wrong with, and why I can no longer read my Franky.TR4 with the modified object?

I do not know if I was clear.

Hello and thanks
Franky

How did you modify your object?
Because WADMerger can't read UV-mapped objects I think.

Btw, we have a thread dedicated to Meta2TR. Questions can also be asked in there.

Mostly, WAD files just don't support UV-mapping at all. You can't re-import a UV mapped object into your WAD (WAD2 do support UV-mapping, but that is if you are using TombEditor).

Hi Titak
thanks for the clarification of the dedicated Thread I did not know.

You say: Because WADMerger can't read UV-mapped objects I think.
Question: sorry for my ignorance, but what does it mean?

About your question: How did you modify your object?
I opened Wadmerger and loaded the Extra53 object which was missing the back and I created the missing part, saved it and dragged it into meta2tr.exe.

My Franky.tr4 file before using Meta2tr_v8a works, when I modified my Extra53 (Static) object with Wadmerger and drag it to Meta2tr.exe, the program creates NEWLEVEL.TR4, which I then rename to Franky.tr4 but it is not already more readable by Wadmerger.

Note: if you want I can send you the object in question.

Why are you not using STRPix for editing your objects?
You are still using NGLE/TRNG are you not?

"YES" I'm using NGLE.TRNG

Sorry Strpix I use it to change the textures.

Question: How do I add the missing faces with Strpix? how you do it?

Note: Titak tell me where is Meta2tr Thread there?

But if you are just editing objects for in your wad, which you then put textures on using STRPix, you don't need to use Meta2TR. Because that changes stuff within the .tr4 file which is way more inconvenient when you also want those edited objects back in the wad.
  1. Use WADMerger to copy an object you want to change into a wad.
(I prefer using a seperate wad for creating objects, so nothing goes wrong with my levelwad)
  2. Load your wad in STRPix.
  3. Go through the objects list to the object you want to change
(You know how that works since you have already been changing textures on objects. )
  4. Export the mesh as MQO
(MQO keeps texturing intact as long as you don't completely change the object. Saves a lot of work! )
  5. Change the mesh in the Metasequoia program and save it when you are done.
  6. Go back to STRPix and import the object you just edited, overwriting the mesh you exported earlier.
  7. Save the wad.

Meta, short for Metasequoia, is the program a lot of builder use(d) for editing objects for the wad.

Meta2TR is a program with which you can add more detail to your .tr4 files.
Like make roomgeometry rounder, add other detailed objects, etc.
The link for it is in my post you quoted in your previous reply.
The thread is a sticky thread in our Software Development section.

WADMerger does not seem to like .tr4 files that have been recreated through Meta2TR. And it sure does not work when objects have been UV-mapped (= a way of texturing in Metasequoia and other 3D modelling programs, you sort of wrap a texture aroudn the object instead of applying little textures one by one on the faces of the object like in STRPix).

So there is a big difference really.

omg who taught you to use meta2tr to modify your objects???
just use strpix to import/export the object and use metasequoia or any other modelling software to make your objects

Hello
I do everything you suggested, but I don't get the result I want.
I send you a video of the operation, so you can see what I do

https://www.sendspace.com/file/bopy82

When I load the exported object with STRPIX vers. 17 in .MQO format, then Metasequoia offers it to me as you can see in the video,

Question: why does the EXTRA53 object no longer have the textures?

Please explain me well with Screenshots or videos how I have to configure Metasequoia well, because I think the problem is there.

Question: can you send me the already configured Metasequoia program, so I can see the errors made?

As I have already told you, it is mainly for me to put the missing faces of the EXTRA53 object in this case the part behind.

Forgive my ignorance, but for days I have been trying them all without success.

Hello and thanks

Hello
I normally use STRPIX vers 17 I export the object in .MQO format and upload it to Metasequoia, the object that appears to me has no textures and can practically not be used (see video)

https://www.sendspace.com/file/bopy82

My purpose would be to create faces for objects that are missing, but the object exported with Strpix .MQO is not editable.

I have been trying to put my face on the object for days but without success.

Question: can you tell me what's wrong with my operation and why the original textures are missing?

Hello and thanks
