I kinda see what Lance was referring to actually. The 2013 PR statements about protecting Lara were gross. I'd even argue that it wouldn't fly today the way it did 10 years ago.

And Aloy not looking like a supermodel was also a point of contention for male gamers back then.
It also reminds of Life is Strange's very first trailer. I remember how 14 year old me was shocked at how EVERY SINGLE YouTube comment was mocking it and referring to it as "Tumblr: The Game". But then it came out and people stopped complaining.

They came from one of the Smiths from the documentary that is on the original TR movie dvd I believe, or maybe the one that came out during legend or aod? IDK but I know it was said before CD said it. I think it was Jeremy Heath Smith who first said "You have to navigate Lara through the tombs which have traps, and it's almost like you are protecting her from danger". Which is so true, because the control is in your hands and if you fail her she perishes, and psychologically you feel responsible in connection to the visual of Lara going on fire or falling and bouncing off the ground. I don't think that statement was controversial at all. The fact that it's a woman, albeit a hyper-capable one, DOES have a psychological effect on men playing. Men have a biological desire to protect women and children first. Its a real phenomenon, not gross. It's beautiful. It binds the player to the avatars mission with an emotion enmeshment. She's beautiful and we love her, of course we would wtry to protect her from danger.

Lmao you can't mass delete them, can only be done one by one. Well I'm going to take a while to do it this way. Will probably do about 2 to 3 years worth of comments a day until they are all gone. Then I can start fresh.

Different strokes for different folks hahaha. Cd's Lara doesn't make you want to protect her though cuz she moves like a weird wind-up toy. So saying you would want to was false advertising lol.

For anyone interested and since it got mentioned before:

The Noclip Crystal Dynamics documentary is apparently going to be available starting tomorrow.

Quote:
Tomorrow we release our biggest documentary of the year. A two hour dive into the 30 year history of @CrystalDynamics
featuring over a dozen interviews with developers past and present.

We're massively proud of it.
