This is my favorite TR (till now). At the time I played The last Revelation, I was a fan of Egyptology so you can imagine how much I enjoyed the game and its thematic. The visuals were wonderful. The colors gripping. You really feel immersed in ancient Egypt and its mystic and its mythology. The music was great. I seriously loved everything about this game.

Going to play in full for the first time ever. Never liked this game but I leaned more about the story overtime and I need to get onto it now.

However I will be using cheats such as unlimited ammo and unlimited weapons because I’ve had so many left over in medi packs, guns, ammo from the first three games and it’s only fair to use what was left over for this game. I feel like in this game the pistol ammo is also very weak compared to the past three games. I’m just not a fan of the pistols in this game however I am just going to continue to use other weapons most of the time.

The revolver is quite an overpowered gun; I'd advise using that as much as possible.

I felt there was actually ammo and health in abundance in TR4, more so than in the previous games.
With having to look in every single nook and cranny being such an essential part of getting anywhere in classic TR I felt much more rewarded for my efforts than in 1, 2 and 3
You will literally get nowhere in those games if you don't go in with perception dialed to 11 and stopping regularly to get use out of that look button, it's super tedius having to play like that but it's kinda what the game is all about.

That's probably why i'm still so into classic TR. In a world where there is so much hand holding guiding you through the game, classic TR is pretty refreshing with how little it holds your hand. Been lost for hours? Look harder.

The Last Revelation is easily the best looking game released on the PS1. It's now my favourite classic TR game, for the longest time it was TR2. I do recall playing the Dreamcast version many years ago at a friend's house, but it felt alien to me as I was always used to the PlayStation controller.

What I love about TLR:

- The soundtrack is phenomenal
- Visuals are superb
- It's the first TR game with a deep story.
- Jonell Elliot's voiceover work.
- Perhaps the most rewarding TR game to complete.
- While I enjoy TR2 & TR3, I consider it to be the spiritual successor to TR1 as it went back to basics with the tomb exploration and puzzle solving.
- The overall presentation & atmosphere in the levels. Despite most of the game being set in Egypt, each section is different to the other as the game gets visually & tonally darker.
- The concept of having hubs with interconnected levels was cool - the only irritating part was back-tracking between City of the Dead-Chambers of Tulun-Trenches.

'A spiritual successor to TR1'

Yeah feel what you mean, well put.
Plus it felt like the first TR sequel where they really managed to take a big step up gameplay wise and 2&3 didn't really feel that way.

It was such a cool feeling thinking
"I'll try this, it probably wont work"
And it actually does, like using a crowbar as a replacement switch handle. That would have been a stupid thing to try in any of the previous games.

The pistols are always meant to suck.

This game is nothing like TR1 though, not moreso than 2 or 3 at least. TLR is rather plot focused, with lots of puzzles and exploration, but not much combat or platforming. TR1 had minimal plot and puzzles, but a lot more platforming and enemies. I swear, its like people remember TR1 as being something completely different from what it was...

currently at Sacred Lake and this game, so far, seem like I'm hunting down ammo and medikits instead of saving the world
