By the way, I will be releasing the Japanese FMV's soon but it will require a MPEG-2 codec to be installed, it just can't have the same quality on MPEG-1 no matter what I try. |

![]() Would it be possible to use a mesh that has the blades sticking out though? Also, is it possible to change inventory item descriptions from level to level, or more specifically character to character? I simply say this because the Periapt Shard in Kurtis' inventory is still described as "Crystal shard of unknown origin". So perhaps it could be changed to something like "Crystal shard of the Lux Veritatis" since for Kurtis this isn't something 'unknown'. Maybe the description could even be changed for Lara once she gets to Lost Domain since by then she knows what they are? And as to the Amulet: I LOVE IT. YES YES YES PLEASE INCLUDE IT! I wonder: would it be possible maybe to edit or change the strength upgrade icon? Perhaps if the blue arrow was changed to an image of the Amulet, or combined with the Amulet (since I know the blue arrow is iconic and loved by all AOD fans) it would make it seem like the Amulet is serving a purpose that is connected to Lara re-gaining her strength so quickly. This would then also give legitimacy to the Shaman FMV and what Putai says, should that FMV ever be included again. Maybe this is an idea for TRJTA to consider since I know he's working on textures, and the strength upgrade is a texture I believe. Just ideas ![]() |

I guess it's a moot point anyway since AOD ended up only being a single game rather than part of a trilogy. But everything just seems to point to Core stripping the whole Amulet as part of Lara's strength and Putai from the story. One unused FMV and an amulet in the inventory doesn't give you a lot to go off of if you don't know the history surrounding those things.
If everyone's excited to have it, I guess I don't want to be the Debbie Downer. But I don't feel some things should be restored just because. If it's something Core intended to drop anyway regardless of technical and deadline issues, I wouldn't want to go against that vision per se. But again, that's just me. I can tell everyone's excited about its inclusion so I won't dampen it. ![]()

I would definitely not include the amulet. It doesn't make any sense in the version of the story that we have in retail. It would feel tacked on/restored for no good reason at all.

I'm in favour of the amulet's inclusion for the sake of studying what could have been. Yes, it doesn't make sense gamewise, but neither does picking up Werner's walking stick (until recently), or picking up his glasses in TR4. The amulet is a canonical item and a part of Lara's backstory.

If you decide to include the Amulet I think you'd need to do 3 other things:
1) Add an entry to the journal explaining what it is 2) Expand the introductory FMV by adding the new material with Putai that Peter provided some time ago. Personally I would add the new scene after Lara stares at the mirror 3) Modify the upgrade icon by adding the amulet All of these things should be feasible, I believe |

Japanese FMV's are finally out. You must use a MPEG-2 codec (such as LAV Filters) to be able to use these ingame. I wish we could know for sure if they were still considering the Amulet and everything as a canonical part of AOD's backstory. That's my biggest hangup over it. I mean yes, the (unfinished) FMV with Putai looks fairly complete despite it not having sound when Peter first released it. And they did leave the Amulet in the game files. But why cut out such a big part of the bsckstory and the upgrade system itself? Even if they were rushing left and right to meet deadlines, that would've been a very sound reason to explain Lara losing her strength and building it back up, as well as the inclusion of strength upgrades themselves. So why didn't they?
Luther Rouzic made sense because he wasn't a big loss in the grand scheme of things. But despite everything all of this was cut and the upgrade system neutered. I know there was a lot of miscommunication, but I don't think they would've taken something so critical to Lara's backstory out so late unless they no longer wanted to use it and just didn't have time to replace it with something else.
