I don't know how you guys can pretend you don't hear it, but the way you'll tear Camilla apart for similar slip-ups reeks of baseless animosity.
Right!? I never understood how the same people that criticize Camilla's accent praise Alicia's when they both slip up. I've even questioned my own ears, wondering if my negativity towards the movie was affecting my perception. Glad to see that wasn't the case!

There's a creepy and unhealthy hateful obesession with Camilla on this forum that steps way beyond simply not liking the performance/offering constructive criticism into, well, another territory completely, so no surprise there.

To be fair, Mister Contrarian, Charles Kane is an option, as is Father Patrick. And let's face it but, if Natla never dies, then neither do Larsen or Pierre.

Charles Kane is a good option too. As much as I like Father Patrick, though, I feel like he's a very niche sort of character that CD wouldn't know what to do with, outside of the very specific conceit that is a ghost story.

I found Alicia's accent to be more than believable and appropriate. I'm not pretending anything. I hear significantly more Valley girl in Camilla as Lara than I do Swedish in Alicia as Lara.

Camilla's accent also slips into british whenever I watch Grey's Anatomy as well.
I still like her performance either way. I stay out of the accent discussions because I'm not British, so I feel like my input is quite useless lol

I shouldn't have said I don't find Alicia convincing, because I do, but my point was that I find Camilla just as convincing. It's not 100% there, but unless they actually get a British person to voice Lara (i.e. Hayley Atwell), that's never going to be the case.

Unless I'm listening out for it, it never occurs to me. I've said it before but I really don't see much difference in her accent to a South Coast accent around where I live (and I think Rai agreed which is funny as she lived in the same town!).

Just checked out the South Coast/Bournemouth accent and she doesn't have anything akin to Californian. The thing that Camilla ****s up on are L's, E's, and long O's. Her L's have this quality where she uses the tip of her tongue on the roof of her mouth to overly round them out, when just like the R, L's shouldn't be pronounced unless followed by a vowel, but even when they are, she overdoes it. All her E's also sound like A's.

I never knew a lot of this until Camilla was hired because these odd things kept surfacing and just struck me as non-befitting.
