Thanks for that. ^
I was forgetting about that shimmy steam vent too. I feel it might be possible, with the right jump and positioning to land on the platform opposite. An alternative thing to try would be a jump and grab to a position slightly further along the shimmying ledge than just by just shimmying to the nearest point LC does not get damaged. That simply doesn't let you clear the steam jet in time. With perfect timing you could land within the steam jet zone just as it shuts off and have enough time to shimmy right to clear it before it restarts. But that is just a theory; I have a feeling the grab-able edge is too high to reach from any jump start point available. |

Well if you read the earliest posts in that thread, which of course I know, about that drop back into the Coastal Ruins from the Hall Of Demetrius you would have seen these comments from four different posters:-
"I found no way to avoid the damage as Lara drops into the level." "Health loss was not avoidable." "Fourth and last time, thank goodness! The tiny health loss is from the drop at beginning of the level - I minimized it by following akci's advice to press roll." "Small health loss at the start." When you find four previous people going for no scratch saying they take unavoidable damage there you tend to believe them. Maybe if there is a solution you know about later in the thread you could just point me to the post instead of these vague replies and suggestions of laziness on my part for not searching properly. |

^ I also have to read the posts one by one to find the place for you. So either you or me would do this labor part. Also you're asking nearly all questions that come across the no-scratch play, so I suggest you to read that thread carefully from the beginning to the end. It worth the effort. It's always a pleasure to read the achievements of the masters.

Problem is that they're not all going for no scratch; they're posting stats and no scratch details are often incidental, the method not always described in depth and quite often glitches are used to avoid the damage.
That was the principal reason for starting this thread to avoid the hassle of sifting through other threads and alternative online sources and provide more detailed information on no scratch solutions. |

I would post 2 of my youtube videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5u8vO67optg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTgO_7nTANs It's places you asked. I learned all of them from others' previous works. I read not only once, but several times of all the posts in that thread. I don't know how to say. Pity! ![]() |

Yes, both interesting. Thanks for showing it can be done.
I think the first one with the crawl space must be relying on LC to be crawling forward ie. moving, just when the steam turns off. I was trying it from a kneeling position as close as possible to the steam jet without damage assuming that would clear it faster. The second example with the grab ledge is just plain annoying because (as described) that is exactly what I was trying to do but, obviously, not jumping from the 'correct' spot: dropping exactly at the corner then three steps right. I'd even gone up top on the 'roof'' I just didn't think of using it as a positioning tool. Last edited by fallenangle; 09-12-22 at 12:38. |

Just finished the game.
The final boss fight area I found not very difficult to do no-scratch as I am very familiar with it from my last run. If you use your ears and start moving at the right time you can be sure not to be caught by the semi-homing attacks. Still took me more than half a dozen attempts to get it right. At the top the blue light area is 'safe' but I remember last time I kept on getting caught by the attacks on the final platform before the climb up. This time I realised that if LC hang drops from the edge of that platform instead and start to shimmy left before she adopts the ladder climb pose she will shimmy 90° round to the other wall for the final climb. As she remains in the blue light column throughout she takes no damage. The annoying thing was actually the preamble to the final boss fight; the 'fireman' poles through blades trap which are very doable if, like those earlier steam pipes, LC is moving. If you start from a static position too close to the blades LC gets damaged most times. But the real hassle are those damned bats you also have to deal with. In the end I triggered them in each case and then used grenades to blow the pesky things to death by aiming down the hole at just the right angle. Last edited by fallenangle; 30-12-22 at 17:27. |
