Update:

A few weeks ago Caesum raised the issue of Lara's hair looking like a pixelated mess so I wanted to try and tackle this.

The pixelated look of Lara's hair is now greatly reduced. This was done by applying gaussian blur effect to the hair texture. All Lara models have been updated with this change, but not Amanda since I don't see any issues on her.

Update 2 (21/07/21):

Mipmaps is now used instead of gaussian blur for Lara's hair fix.

Update: This time it's the swinging vines with thick black edges in Bolivia.

Before | After

There are two ways to make objects partial or wholly transparent in Legend, one is with blank alpha and the other is to use the colour black (#00000). I think we can conclude that the thick black edges are supposed to be transparent.

The image above have three vines in front of the pale blue background I've created as a demonstration. From left to right:
  1. The original texture of the vine
  2. The vine after colour curves are maxed out which brightened all colours except black (#00000). The leaf offshoots from the vine is also clearer here.
  3. The vine texture after all the black have been removed.

The vine still have dark edges but it is an improvement imo. Version 1.3 contains this update.

Default Update

First some trivia, did you know that all loading screens in TRL have two different versions - one for 4:3 displays and the other for widescreen. The differences can be seen by toggling the widescreen option in graphic settings.

On a related note, take a look at the Mission Prep page which is seen between levels. The image of the manor library is stretched because there is only a 4:3 version. No widescreen version exists.

I've edited the texture to add vertical black bars to both sides of the image. This is called the pillarbox effect. The library image is now scaled correctly on widescreen display.

Always great to see graphical glitches getting fixed. It's also very satisfying to do #AODDE

Same! In fact this reminds me of the stretched logo from Tomb Raider Chronicles which you created a fix for. I always use your fix whenever I replay TRC, so thank you.

That's so sweet. Such a simple thing can really make a difference. That stretched logo with a few pink pixels around it always bugged me.

You're welcome!
