Not sure if anyone is following the new season, but the first episode of AHS 1984 premiered this past Wednesday. It looks like this will be a Slasher themed season that takes place in a summer camp during the summer of 1984, similar to Friday the 13th. One notable difference about this season is that series veterans Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters won't be part of the main cast. Not that I dislike either actor, but I'm looking forward to seeing new faces this season. Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, and Cody Fern are some returning cast members this season. I love Slasher horror films, and definitely looking forward to see the direction the new season takes. As well as how they treat the 80's theme this season.

I watched the first episode this evening - "Camp Redwood". My thoughts:

- Mr. Jingles is the name of the main killer of this season. The first episode already gives us backstory about his character and the crime that he committed at Camp Redwood. Something tells me though that there will be multiple killers this season though if they're already revealing this amount of details.

- I enjoy the 80's themes and references so far. Not quite on the same level as Stranger Things, but I did enjoy the design of the gym with the funky colors and neon signs.

- The main cast of characters look pretty good so far. No over-the-top or overly eccentric characters introduced yet aside from Activity's Director.

- There were a lot of Friday the 13th references in this episode aside from the obvious summer camp theme.

I give this episode an 8/10.

Hmm.. watched Season 9 a few days ago. Meh... I'll give it a C, they could have done more with the 80s theme. It started promising, but got kinda boring. The characters weren't interesting at all.

Here's my rating from Worst to best:

9. Coven
8. Apocalypse
7. 1984
6. The 6th one
5. Hotel
4. Freak Show
3. The Election one
2. Murder House
1. Asylum

I just watched the latest season Double Feature and it has to be the worst AHS season ever.

Really? Pregnant men?

I've not read the spoiler cause I've only watched the first half but yeah its very weak. It felt like a massive retread of things we have seen before. The second half, of which Ive seen two episodes, doesn't seem any better and feels like it was done just so people would stop asking for it.

After 1984 I'm surprised at how poor it is. People give Roanoke a bad time but its a masterpiece compared to this season and cult.

I would go as far as saying that Death Valley (the second part of Double Feature) is not worth watching , it was just too much and the finale is the worst finale of any AHS season.

I actually really liked Roanoke, it was pure horror if you ask me.

And American Horror Story was just renewed for another 3 seasons.

Cool

Death Valley was terrible. Too slow paced and when it finally starts to feel like things are happening it's the end. I got to the end of Ep. 10 excited for another episode in what I thought was the actual finale, but no. Its just a bit wet fart.

The first half wasn't great either. Questionable writing for most of it. I didn't even watch all of Cult because I found it absolutely boring but this is definitely joint bottom place with it imo. I hope Ryan has some decent ideas for the next three series cause this one was awful. Especially coming off the back of 1984.

Eh, I thought Red Tide was great but it should have been a full season.
