I started watching this as well. I didn't like the movie that originated the series so I wasn't really sure about watching it, but I'm actually really enjoying it.

Following on from the Barbie chat, Ryan Gosling is pure smoldering charisma. I've seen criticism that he's a wooden actor, but I think that shouldn't be mistaken with emotional restraint.

I seem to be on a Darren Aronofsky thing and after watching The Whale yesterday I got round to watching the second half of Requiem for a Dream about an hour ago. Have seen Requiem a few times but had some mixed emotions this time around: in some ways it feels exploitatively hopeless, yet I found myself devastated again by, in particular, Ellen Burstyn and Jennifer Connolly's tales and performances.
