Yes lockdown is causing more deaths by other means and suffering. Its not just cancer patients that have been held up due to covid, its all sorts of life saving and enhancing procedures that have been held up. My older sister was almost blind in both eyes due to cataracts prior to 2019, and it was six months wait on the NHS to get one eye sorted by cataract operation done in 2019, and two months later for the other eye. She can see without glasses now, fantastic 10 minute operation in each eye. But now with Covid, all these eye operations have slowed down or even stopped at the moment As I have said before, its time lockdown was finished for good.

Glad to hear that your sister is ok.

I agree lockdown should end as it's gone far enough and too far for some people who are justifiably frustrated with the prolonged lockdown and no clear plan from the government about when lockdown will end, it doesn't help that the government is at communicating with the people, the government should do the smart thing and order a copy of communication for dummies.

There was supposed to be a series of lockdown protests at the weekend across Ireland, I don't know if all of them went ahead some didn't and some of the protests that didn't have large numbers of protesters had more police officers than protesters present at the protest.

The following was posted on a local website which I won't bother linking to as it'll eventually be hidden behind a pay wall after the website a couple of years ago started charging for checking old articles, see below.

It is time the lockdowns were ended there is no excuse for these overzealous lockdowns. They are nothing to do with health and everything to do with control, it is our right to meet, travel freely and continue normal life.

The government have no intention of letting us have our lives back, they are already talking about turning all the rural pubs into remote working offices, in other words this is permanent.

The promise of freedom through vaccines is a false one they have no intention of doing that, the vaccines agenda is simply all about the vaccine passport and is an excuse to control all your movements.

It is time to realise this is tyranny and all the state forces are eagerly enforcing this in their own vindictive way, it is time to wake up and stop the fear, it is time to live life again.

There was a bit of an over the top response to one protest that didn't happen with armed police officers seen in the area before the protest, bit OTT to send officers armed with assault rifles or whatever they use these days to a protest, sending armed officers to a peaceful protest that didn't happen was ridiculous and unnecessary, I wonder how many police officers would be deployed if a real criminal did something probably none as they would all be hiding behind their desks.

It's easier for the police to go after an easy target than deal with real criminals.

Sending the armed response unit was as I said an OTT reaction, if the protest had gone ahead they could have handled it without the ARU, had the ARU been there it could have been a repeat of what happened at the Sarah Everard vigil a few weeks ago.

All that was missing from what was posted on the website was the microchips that Bill Gates and Microsoft are creating to make it easier for government's to keep track of everyone's location 24/7.

The only other thing that was missing from what was posted on the website was the President's speech from the movie Independence Day, see below.

Good morning in less than an hour, aircraft from the air will join others from around the world and you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind.

Mankind that word should have new meaning for all of us today, we can't be consumed by our petty differences any more we will be united in our common interests, perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression or persecution.

We are fighting for our right to live to exist and should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday but as the day when the world declared in one voice we will not go quietly into the night, we're going to live on, we're going to survive today we celebrate our Independence Day.

I really wish we had President Whitmore running the country, he makes you feel optimistic whereas the idiot we're stuck with doesn't do optimism all he does and specialises in is doom and gloom and being dour and downbeat and not seeing the point in giving the people hope, he was recently criticised by ministers as being out of touch because he did not seem to see the necessity of giving hope to the people.

All that's missing from the protests is the protest signs made popular by Father Ted, down with this sort of thing and careful now.

If the government tells us again to hold firm a little bit longer, that'll be the last straw as we won't hold firm any longer, it's time the government came up with an alternative other than repeated ineffective lockdowns and reopened the country.

There has been soaring levels of disapproval at the government's handling of the pandemic, the vaccine program and the duration of the level 5 restrictions, for the first time in a year approval for the government's handling of the pandemic has dropped to 43% and a lot of people think that the level 5 restrictions are being lifted too slowly.

The Irish prime minister is like Nero fiddling while Rome burns, he is also like the captain of the Titanic watching his ship sink while Nearer My God To Thee plays in the background

Well that's all the four Nations of the UK coming out of lockdown by this Friday (Scotland being the last to come out of lockdown), we now have freedom to move again, without looking over our shoulder for a Police car chasing us down or a Policeman jumping out of the park bushes to fine us.

A bit of freedom again, we can now visit the barber and even the dreaded dentist, and go for a car run anywhere and feel like a human being again, instead of being a prisoner for the last three and a half months, trapped behind four walls. (not forgetting the previous year of lockdowns).

So here's hoping this is the end of lockdowns, as any excuse by Government for more lockdowns will drive the country over the edge

Ireland's already extremely slow vaccine rollout has gotten even slower now that the decision has been made to limit the use of the Astrazeneca vaccine to those aged over 60.

Red tape has also unnecessarily slowed things down, I saw it in one of Sundays newspapers that doctors have been told that they have to take a half day off work to attend a course on how to administer an injection and and brush up on what to look for should anyone that gets the vaccine suddenly go into anaphylactic shock, form what I've seen on the news administering the Coronavirus vaccine is no different than any other injection so why a doctor should be required to take a half day off work to learn how to do something that they already know how to do and have been doing for a very long time is a mystery.

The mandatory quarantine in Ireland has been paused less than a month after it started after running out of hotel capacity for people required to quarantine.

It's partially due to walk-ins or people who simply turn up rather than having booked hotel rooms before departure.

The real reason is for some reason that for some reason the Irish government requires that anyone that arrives in Ireland regardless of what airport they arrive at, they must quarantine at a hotel near Dublin airport, it's stupid that the government demands that everyone quarantine at the same hotel regardless of what airport they arrive at, their are hotels near airports all over the country which could easily accommodate people regardless of what airport they arrive at.

Requiring everyone to quarantine at the same hotel is unnecessary and all that's achieved by forcing everyone to quarantine at the same hotel is transporting the virus across the country when at the same time the government is telling us that we must do everything possible to limit the spread of the Coronavirus and any potential variants, plus forcing everyone to quarantine at the same hotel is going to create massive clusters of Coronavirus time bombs.

It's not surprising that hotel quarantine capacity has been reached after less than a month when the government is allowing tens of thousands of people to fly into the country every week from all over the world most of whom are not required to quarantine on arrival here.

The government said that 300 additional rooms will become available next Monday which won't really achieve much when hotels across the country are not being used to quarantine people.

Also the price for quarantine is too high 1,875 euro for two weeks confined to a hotel room where you are only allowed out for 15 minutes a day which must be booked 24 hours in advance and from what I've heard the food being given to people in the hotels is very bad and is probably worse than hospital food.

Freedom day today, we can now cross council boundaries, and as I live in a seaside town it is absolutely full of tourists today coming in by car, bus and train. Big queues for the Ice cream and also the fish and chip shop, crowds on the promenade and pier, lovely sunny day, good to see some life again in my town, good to see people out and about anywhere

No non-essential shops open yet, think that is near the end of the month, but lucky the public toilets are open for the crowds

Lets hope this is the end of lockdown, but we wait and see.

The pandemic hasn't stopped Big Brother from wanting to collect as much information as possible.

This time Big Brother is using the vaccine as an excuse to get as much information as possible by saying that the following will be needed in order to get the vaccine.

A mobile phone, an email address, PPS number, Eircode, name and date of birth, mother's maiden name, gender, nationality, ethnic background, GPs name or GP practice name.

All that's missing from the information that Big Brother will need is for anyone that is in a relationship is when did your relationship start, how many children do you have and plan on having.

Other information Big Brother will require is do you have any pets, do you have a valid passport, how much money do you have in your bank account, what magazines and newspapers do you read, favourite foods, favourite movies, books, TV shows and computer games and do you have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.

If Big Brother were to ask me what my favourite movies, games, TV shows and books are, Big Brother would need 5 or more hours for me to go through them all as I like a lot of movies, games, books and TV shows dating back to the Eighties and Nineties.

Well the worst big brother is to follow if the UK Government get its way with an internal covid vaccination passport, which has happened in Israel now. This is going to be debated for real in the UK parliament soon and would be an infringement to our freedoms if passed. No-one in the UK wants an ID card.

I can see the sense for a covid vaccination pass if going abroad, to try and limit new virus strains into the country, but not internal pass as its just an ID card by the back door, and it would be like living in Red China if we had to show a pass to get into the pub or the cinema. It would be the slippery slope to a totalitarian surveillance state. People would not stand it

Even Boris a few years back during the last 'carrying ID card' debate which failed miserably, said he would eat his ID card if given one. So why is he considering this now.

Don't forget the tracking microchips that some believe that Microsoft is creating to make it even easier for governments to keep track of everyone's location 24/7, we're already being watched 24/7 by CCTV the microchips will make it easier for the government to keep track of people in areas not covered by CCTV like housing estates and inside people's homes.

The microchips might not be enough for the government, I wouldn't be surprised if they went even further and installed cameras in people's bathrooms like the South Park episode where people had to wear a seatbelt while using the toilet, had to have a toilet safety authority official present in the bathroom and fines were issued for not using the seatbelt.

I wouldn't be surprised if various governments are secretly creating invisible drones to spy on people in their gardens, voyeur's will love the idea of an invisible drone.

It recently emerged that the Irish government has been secretly keeping dossiers on autistic kids whose parents are taking legal action against the state to get support for their kids with information being secretly collected from various places like the kids doctors and schools, there's a rumour going around that private detectives have also allegedly been hired by the government to follow the kids and their parents, there is no proof that private detectives are following the kids but it wouldn't surprise me if it's true.

Doctor patient confidentiality obviously means nothing to the government, most doctors were unaware that this was going on and the few doctors that questioned it were told keep quiet by the government and not to inform the parents.

The government secretly gathering information on the autistic kids would never have been known about if it weren't for a whistleblower bringing it to people's attention.

The Irish government always seems to have an anti-kid attitude dating back several decades possibly as far back as the 1920s, various governments let the Catholic Church which was at one point for several decades more powerful than the government look after children in places like mother and baby homes and orphanages, the people who ended up in the mother and baby homes were children themselves where they were sent when they were pregnant to have their babies, babies who were often sold into adoption and sent to live in other countries, babies that didn't survive were buried in septic tanks.

Then there was priests who sexually abused children and were never punished for it and anytime a complaint was made about one of the abusers, the Catholic Church which cared more about it's reputation than the children they were looking after swept the matter under the carpet and moved the priest that had been abusing the kids somewhere else where he could continue to abuse kids.

There was also the Magdalene Laundries where women usually in their thirties who got pregnant outside of marriage were sent because they were seen as having brought shame to their communities, you may not know this but at one point in Ireland it was illegal to get pregnant outside of marriage.

The government as part of its anti-kid attitude seems to fight against children on just about everything and anything from things like transport to and from school to kids getting places in schools to getting life saving medication and even resisting legalising medicinal cannabis for kids who have seizures sometimes several hundred times a day.

Parents who go abroad to get medicinal cannabis for their kids often at the cost of 10,000 or more euro have the stuff that they bring back taken from them as soon as they bring it back.

There seems to be no interest in kids getting even the most basic things like transport to and from school especially for kids living in rural areas, last year or the year before I forget which I read about a mother who had to drive 200 hundred miles to take one of her children to school because a place wasn't available for him or her but her other child was able to go to a school that was near their home.

Various health ministers have done very little to help kids it's mostly their parents and doctors that have to do all the work to get access to even the most basic services and even then that can take many, many years I think there is a 4 year wait for a child to get an assessment to see if they can see a psychiatrist and even longer before they get to see the psychiatrist.

It's unlikely that the current health minister Stephen Donnelly will do anything to help children, all he seems to be interested in is not speeding up the vaccine rollout and is more interested in complaining about why his name hasn't been mentioned in official tweets from the health department.

We need a minister for health and instead we got a minister for vanity, there are bigger more important things going on that he should be dealing with but instead he orders a review and investigation into why his name isn't being mentioned in official tweets from the health department.

One would think that with his literal egg shaped head that he would possess some small bit of intelligence, that's clearly not the case if he is more concerned about his name not being mentioned in official tweets from the health department.

Like all politicians he goes from one crisis to the other and doesn't do anything else apart from say that there will be such and such a number of vaccines arriving into the country and then having to continually backtrack when the expected number of vaccines fail to arrive.

A family member passed away yesterday and while she had the Coronavirus that wasn't the primary cause of death, she had COPD.

Which brings me to what the Irish government were up to last year during the early stages of the pandemic, the government for some reason ordered that the cause of death be recorded as Coronavirus even if the patient didn't have the Coronavirus or if the cause of death was something else like a heart attack or COPD.

People believed that it was the government's intention to deliberately misrepresent the number of deaths from the Coronavirus by making it look like a lot more people were dying from the Coronavirus compared to the real number of people that died because of the Coronavirus, the government would have you believe that tens of thousands of people died from the Coronavirus when in fact there have been fewer than 6000 deaths from the Coronavirus.

It was most likely part of the government's plan to create a climate of fear around the Coronavirus by making things seem a lot worse than they were, the government did this because they knew that people would only listen to the stay at home order for a while before starting to ignore it which is why they deliberately misrepresented the number of people dying from the Coronavirus to make people want to stay at home.

The government obviously has no problem with fake news when it can be used to the government's advantage to push the government's agenda to force people to stay at home.

The government willfully and deliberately spread misinformation to achieve their goal of getting the people to stay at home, something they knew that they couldn't achieve by ordering people to stay at home.

The government weaponised the Coronavirus and used it to create the aforementioned climate of fear to frighten people into wanting to stay at home because the government knew that people would inevitably start to ignore the stay at home order.

On an unrelated issue last weekend I spotted the apartment of an anti Coronavirus conspiracy theorist, I only noticed it because of the cardboard in the window with no government written on it and behind the cardboard the window was lined with tin foil, I couldn't see what else was written on the cardboard because I didn't have my glasses with me.

On another unrelated issue the Irish prime minister has changed tactics and instead of giving a formal address to the nation on the evening news, he tried the casual informal approach and recorded a video in a room in one of his homes and posted it on his Twitter page which didn't work for two reasons, one he still sounded like was giving a formal address to the nation because he doesn't know how to do it any other way even though he obviously tried to do so and two the light in the room wasn't that great, he must have a new and undoubtedly expensive PR team to try and improve his image which won't work IMO as he is very unpopular and no-one likes him or likes to listen to him, they need to work on the technical aspects of any casual informal videos he does in the future like make sure he doesn't record a video with his back to the window which made it difficult to see him, for future videos he should face the window.

He was trying to create a man of the people vibe and convince us that he's one of us by recording a more casual video at one of his homes while dressed casually, it didn't work and that ship has sailed very few people bought his man of the people and I'm like you act.

He should stick to giving addresses to the nation on the evening news, he's better at doing that than he is at trying the casual informal approach.

He also took some pictures while out walking recently to try and reinforce his man of the people I'm just like you image that he is trying to project, one of the pictures he took was of a ship that ran aground several years ago and had been rusting ever since, a lot of people compared that ship to his government, in taking the picture of the ship that ran aground he has given people more ammunition to criticise both him and his government.

Several weeks ago he was criticised after it emerged that he had homeless people moved away from his office at Leinster House by security guards because he didn't feel comfortable having them there and felt threatened by them.

He was also recently criticised for saying that he would engage with other EU government's about common action against the now failed Super League proposal, if only he would give as much attention to speeding up the vaccine rollout as he does with an issue of no real importance to anyone here, like anyone in other EU government's would listen to him anyway and is the now failed Super League proposal even a matter for other EU government's surely they have more important things to do especially during the pandemic.
