Yeah Jathom95 explained pretty much everything I believe.
One more question, #9, which files exactly are these?
The only thing relating to improved FMVs that I could find is a link on PCGamingWiki by rewak (https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/f...-looking-fmvs/)
But this file is almost 3gb in size, there's no way those are included in this download, so what exactly is #9?

That file includes all of the languages' voice acting, so basically every FMV in all languages TR:AoD was released in. These are an offshoot of Rewak's pack by LoreTheGamer, which has the FMVs in smaller size and at 16:9. I noticed no major difference in quality from Rewak's FMVs to LoreTheGamer's, so I went with the smaller files at the aspect ratio most gamers will be playing at.

The site I obtained them from has this to say about them:

Quote:
LoreTheGamer modified rewak's FMVs. They are now in MPEG-1 format (before they were in MPEG-2), their dimensions have been reduced with the same audio and video quality and are now in 16:9.
Ideally, I'd like it if we could get HD upscales of AoD's FMVs, but then those wouldn't go in the Rescued modpack. AoD's FMVs are just so badly compressed, more so than even TRIV on PC.

Edit - The new version with the rolling demo FMV is being added now. It'll take a bit to upload.

The link you provided is for rewak FMVs. I believe LateRaider included the ones by LoreTheGamer. I read on the CoreDesign fansite that LoreTheGamer modified rewak's FMVs to correct the dimensions with the same video and audio quality. rewak's FMVs is 4:3 and LoreTheGamer's is 16:9. I've took these screenshots to compare.

rewak | LoreTheGamer

The file size on pcgamingwiki is 3GB because it offers FMVs for 10 different languages.

Nice work.

I'm sure players will now have a much easier time installing fixes for AOD.

Pretty good that you also shared it on PCgamingwiki page.

Already took care of that.

Edit: LOL nevermind my reply. That's what I get for reading fast. I thought you said "Pretty good if you shared".

Ash did some just a little while back, they're over on AOD's page at Core Design and on YT. They're definitely an improvement, but you still run into a fair amount of artifacting because, as you said, the FMV's are so terribly compressed.

The only real way to fix those would be to recreate each of them from scratch.

You could probably use AI upscaled ones in the game, you would just have to transcode them into a format the game is happy to play back (most likely MPEG only). I made the pack before AI upscaling was even a thing so it's pretty old I don't know how well it would play back something at resolutions above standard def though, or if it would even do that at all.

It's wise to choose carefully with an AI as they can be pretty dumb at times.
