By any measure whatsoever, MGS1's graphics are superior and the textures, used more consistently and with far more detail. Not to mention the stylistic art and consistency. I LOVE TR3 but to claim MGS1 is visually inferior is just wrong. If you prefer it for subjective reasons, fine but MGS1 was capable of far more. Not to mention all cutscenes were rendered in-game.

Majority of MGS 1 cutscenes were codecs and pre rendered cutscenes(or real life videos). Rendered cutscenes of MGS 1 weren't that much.

TR 3 also had rendered cutscenes but at very least the developers of it knew they were making a game instead of a movie which is why TR 3 had far less cutscenes compare to MGS 1 but with 3 times more gameplay time.

thats such an absurd comparison, as if gameplay time outweighs visual fidelity

By any measure TR3 looks clearly better than MGS1 in a technical level. It does far more than MGS even attempts to.

This is just false. For reasons already explained. I have worked and researched extensively both Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider 3 and the Tomb Raider textures across all classics.

Don't make me write paragraphs.

I'm sure it does. Especially one who grew up on SNES days.
Gameplay does outweigh, unless you like a visual simulator alone.

Slating MGS for it's gameplay is unfair.

you are totally missing the point, we are talking about GRAPHICS and not gameplay.

GUYS, if you are playing MGS1 you can literally press TRIANGLE and look around the map just like Lara does ogm

Agree! TR3 was so good in terms of everything.
