Default Ghostbusters to get a new film in original continuity

Quote:
Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full-trance mediums, the Loch Ness Monster and the theory of Atlantis?

If so, good news — there’s a new Ghostbusters movie in the works.

Entertainment Weekly has learned exclusively that Jason Reitman will direct and co-write an upcoming film set in the world that was saved decades previously by the proton pack-wearing working stiffs in the original 1984 movie, which was directed by his father, Ivan Reitman.

“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” Reitman says. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”

Just imagine if they hadn't thrown away over 100 million dollars in the first place with that terrible reboot.

They already have a short teaser.

(Ignore the video title - while the media is indeed referring to this as Ghostbusters 3, no cast has been confirmed yet)

Its sad to know that the third movie was already planned etc when all the actors were still alive.

But it is what it is...i will wait for more information before i will let myself get excited.

Yeah, and it was Bill Murray dragging his feet that made the first version of Ghostbusters 3 perish.

I've yet to see the Ghostbusters remake/reboot, so that will be interesting. Now onto this movie, I wonder who's going to return from the original 3 (the two movies and video game).

That little teaser was better than the whole reboot, which was objectively bad.

Bill Murray? If anything I figured he'd be out entirely since he's been the one dragging his feet for so long.

Like I said, ignore the video title as no cast has been confirmed yet. Apparently, though, Dan Akroyd has been working on a role to entice Bill Murray back in a minor role of some kind.
