All I can guess is that each game tried to give us a darker tone, or darker/edgier Lara, and most of them failed miserably (except for AOD, my soul mate) thereby nearly killing the franchise or at least the current era.

The person originally thought responsible for someone's death is not that someone? Von Croy not killed by Lara, Alister not killed by Lara, and her father not killed by Anna, respectively?

Or, alternatively, we found out who killed Von Croy, Lara's Father and/or Alister, and Lara's father.
