Well, DAWs have evolved drastically in 25 years. Most of what we listen to nowadays is part of a library of sample. I'm sure a new orchestral theme would rock the Casbah.

And that’s exactly it…. The whole video game music landscape has changed so much - so many more layers, and far more ambient or ‘epic’. Layers upon layers where I’d much prefer something more simple.

Of course the classics have amazing soundtracks but there games like Legend and Temple of Osiris that are very good too. Shadow's soundtrack is the best of the reboot games but all of them are generic. There is a real value in having some distinct classical motifs rather than just ambiance or drone. I want the music to create a vibe and have heart. It has to tell the story and put you into the mind set of what the gameplay has for you. When those panic tunes (like T-Rex) start it's still gives me an adrenaline rush but also those melodic sweeter moments.

Like this track has such mysterious start making you tense then such grandeur and beauty.

I want the music to have that intimacy with Lara's emotional state with distinct tracks where you learn the melody by hearing them a number of times. I would like the sound to be more stripped back too

I finally listened to all 76 minutes of the Shadow soundtrack while at the gym last night. It is hands down the most awful, bland, boring, and deadbeat soundtrack of the entire series.

I do not remember it being this bad while playing the game, just uninspiring. But listening to it by itself is a really bad idea. I couldn't wait for it to end. I guess it's cool that it uses Mayan (?) instruments, but that's no excuse for something SO BORING.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Survivor trilogy, but I can admit that TR2013 has a good soundtrack, and Rise has a great soundtrack. But Shadow is by far not only the worst TR soundtrack, it is the worst video game soundtrack I have heard to date.
