I'm sure the party will be super fun but all the decorations are in the same colour scheme as the rest of the room, kind of like when Dwight threw a party

I still like that Lara silhouette

Also, most of her classic bios highlight that it was after her traumatic plane crash in the Himalayas that Lara became an expert on ancient civilizations because of her travels.

Also classic Lara had a lot of exploits that have 0 to do with archaeology, such as hunting big foot or breaking the world record for fastest trip across one of the most dangerous roads in the world for example. Also Lara probably rode bikes way before her crash in the Himalayas.

So I think it's adrenaline first, knowledge second but only just barely.
I agree with this.

Tbh looking strictly at Lara's actions we see in-game, I don't even think it makes sense to call her an "archaeologist" so much as a glorified treasure hunter. She probably does have a passing interest in the the history, culture and mythology of places she visits but the adventure is the most important.

She's similar to Nathan Drake in that regard.

That's why the franchise is called Tomb Raider. I agree that archeologist isn't an appropriate term to describe Lara because she was never really interested in discovery and preservation.

She was always after the thrill of the adventure and she was always after relics real power.

The amount of retweets and likes is worrisome. Maybe they are not the best twitters around.

Anyway, they wrote about Gex Is Gex coming back!?

I think that the real "archaeologist" part of Lara only started appearing after Legend were she actually gives the player context on the myths and places she's exploring. And then you have Survivor Lara who gives really excited descriptions of all the relics she finds.

I think Core just called her an "archeologist" just to have another Indiana Jones reference and it wasn't until later that the "archeologist" part was fleshed out a tiny bit.

In Legend's biography they even actually have part of yeaxlaux's reply. Something along the lines of "Lara's detractors consider her nothing more than a glorified treasure hunter and her tactics of exploration have done more harm than good in various archeological sites" something like that xD

If we're lucky enough, Unified Lara will logically be a lot closer to LAU Lara so we may as well get it.

Maybe they will finally achieve what they couldn't with Underworld.

Yeah, true. I think all three can't really be pinned down to one thing in a conventional sense, but I agree with your point about Legend onwards.

Tbh, I always saw CLara as being an adventurer first and foremost, for the thrill aspect, with her profiting from it always being a secondary motivation. Like the mentions of how she writes about her adventures after the fact (ostensibly leaving out the supernatural aspects).

I think Vicky Arnold says it best:

Quote:
Vicky Arnold writes in her correspondence with Brian, "Seeing as Lara was trying to escape the fusty upper-class society she was brought up in and was enjoying her new found freedom, I have always reckoned it's more in keeping that she didn't actually enter full time [university] education at Oxford or anything, but did something less refined like an 'open university' course - [a kind of TV run system whereby you watch appropriate programmes and do your course by correspondence with a few weeks residential lecturing.] Probably doing an anthropology course, Lara would undoubtedly have posted her work in straight from the field. Cambridge and Oxford are the two most prestigious universities in England so I reckon Lara would've gone to one of these for the residential part and I would imagine that, with her undoubtedly very interesting project work, she could quite plausibly have formed a few friendships with some of the old cronie lecturers and librarians. [...] I know a lot of people in magazines have labelled her as a genuine 'archaeologist' and somehow think she would've undertaken heavy studying at Oxford/Cambridge, but that's never been the idea."
