I really don't see a contradiction. TRC is earlier on the official timeline, both Larson and Pierre are never confirmed dead (Larson is thrown alive across a courtyard, and Pierre falls down a pit. Both of them then vanish.)

Then Larson and Pierre are gunned down in TR1, leaving their corpses for all to see.

Pretty clear cut. Even without using 'Unreliable Narrators' to explain Rome.

I'd like to think Pierre didn't die in TRC. Despite being a looong drop for sure, we don't actually see him die after all (and he was quite the bullet sponge in TR1 so we know he is one tough bastard to kill ).
That's the way I prefer to interpret these events anyway.

Of course there is also the possibility that TR4/TRC/AOD slightly retcons what we learn in the original trilogy (deliberately or not deliberately).
After all there are some other aspects of those games that don't 100% gel with the TR1 bio. Like Lara having already had a few adventures and encounters with 'tomb raiding' and supernatural elements (TR4 Cambodia and TRC Ireland) prior to the 'life changing' events when she crashed in the Himalayas at 21 etc.
Also, the way Larson refers to Pierre when talking to Lara in the TR1 cutscene sort of gives off a vibe that these characters had not previously met before. IDK.

But as Andy Sandham said they didn't think it through when doing TRC so without that you have to assume they died twice because if Lara falls in that pit she dies instantly granted you could make the argument for Larson he could have survived the dragon attack plausibly just about but not Pierre you hear him die!

Yeah because you see? If they were ever to remake Tomb Raider 5, they'll certainly have NO CHOICE but to avoid a total sign of imitation to the point that AOD can't even get remade either because of all the drama that was unnecessarily rushed to get published right out of the door from Core Design in that night from 2003 to begin with...

My view on how to make it better:

-Get different voice actress
-Rewrite and get rid of the load of cheesy dialogue
-Recast voice actors for Irish priest, Zip and Pierre
-Don't have Von Croy in it, it ruins his character - have someone else be in charge of the office complex
-Rethink the Irish supernatural elements, make it more subtle and unnerving.

Otherwise in modern graphics with modern gameplay placed on top of the basic level designs and platforming, it probably would work out pretty well.

Just no. Lar having a love interest is just out of character.

I love Jonell, she's probably my favourite VA for Lara. However I'd be ok with replacing her, especially if they remastered all of the classic games as a package. If they do that, I think they should get just one actress to re-record Lara's lines for consistency across the games.

It can be a new actress, as long as she captures that upper-class, womanly, non-emotional, sometimes sarcastic kind of sound, that every Lara actress had in some form up until Camilla. I don't wanna hear Camilla voicing Lara in any classic remaster/remake, ever.

As for the other things, I think the non-British characters should also be done with somewhat better accents, Pierre's actor's British was really slipping through a lot in the original Chronicles and it was just funny.

How realistic and non-cheesy they make the lines and voices though, I think that just depends on the visual style. I don't think somewhat over-the-top, hammy/cheesy voices and conversations are a problem if the game has a more cartoony art style, like I would want. If they remastered the classics I personally wouldn't want them to go realistic with the visuals. I'd rather a more refined and timeless stylised look, that looks more "deliberate" than what they could do with limited tech in the 90s.

This is partly because I don't think the actual gameplay of the classics would translate well in to ultra-realistic graphics. If you want to keep that platforming system, then seeing a super-realistic looking Lara take off like a rocket when she jumps is just going to look weird.
