Default Say 3 nice things about your most hated TR

I noticed one of the things we do here is if we hate a TR title we treat it as the worst thing in the world because I guess we're all emotional bitches. So I thought it would be an intersting exercise to gain more understanding for the other side and to lessen the divid I would make a thread where we list the three best things about the games we don't like in the series.

My very least favorite TRs are: TR3, AOD, Legend and 2013.

TR3:
  1. Great, great versatility. Every stage brings something new to the table: new concepts, new outfits, new vehicles, new settings.
  2. The location selection: I thought it was a neat touch and helped a great deal with replaybility
  3. Croft Manor was really fleshed out. I used to ignore the game and spend hours upon hours in it.

AOD:
  1. Best Lara ever. She looked her best and her personality was on point. Her comebacks cracked me up
  2. The art direction was wonderful almost comic book like
  3. The hall of seasons. You can tell it has all the makings to be one of those great TR levels.

Legend
  1. The music..some of the best in the series
  2. So much fun and very replayable
  3. The chatter between Lara and zip & Aliser. I'll never forgive the fans for ruining this. It was really fun and fleshed the story and their characters.

2013
  1. I've been anticipating TR games releases since TR5 and it was always a me thing, none of my friends really gave a **** because no one like TR, but with 2013 for the first time everyone was talking about the game, all my friends wanted to play it. It felt really nice I ain't gonna lie haha
  2. The documents were the best ever. I really cared for all of these story elements, Rise and Shadow never felt as intersting in that department.
  3. The devs really wanted to make a special game and it showed. You can see the love in every corner. I'm glad all their effort was compensated and the game was a huge success even if I don't really consider it a good TR game.

Tomb Raider 2013:
The Shoulder Tackle (the first melee attack) is kinda fun and I wish it'd return. (Maybe actually doing damage if you melee while sprinting.)

Having WW2 guns as the basic rifle/shotgun was a good decision.

Rope Arrow puzzles as a concept aren't bad.

Rise of the Tomb Raider:

Blood Ties was fun.

Having Russian weapons as the first Pistol/Rifle was another good decision. (I like a good Nagant revolver.)

It had more animals than 2013.

AOD:

1) Lara looked nice, and much prettier than any of her previous version

2) The music was more orchestral

3) Finally adding actual story to the games, instaed of something simple and barebones

TR2:

1) The graphics improvements over TR1

2) The couple of new additions to her moveset

3) ...

TRC:

Can't think of anything, in all honesty

TR 2013:
  1. I liked the lore about Yamatai and Himiko;
  2. Sorry, that's it, I can't think of anything else.
  3. -

Rise:
  1. The ship on ice was really cool;
  2. The Syria level looked really gorgeous and I wish we had more of it;
  3. The orrery segment was also pretty cool.

Angel of Darkness:

- Graphics still hold up well for a game that's 17(!) years old
- Some of the bugs are actually pretty fun
- Ambitious story for any game in 2003, never mind just Tomb Raider

TR2:

- Amazing level design
- The SOLA and bomber jacket outfits are iconic
- Best difficulty balance of the classics

Underworld:

- Thailand is a highpoint for the series in general.
- Impressive enemy variety
- Was nice to see Amanda again

Chronicles:
  • The concept of smaller adventures spanning several years of Lara's history is quite interesting
  • Besides the underbiob and the questionable way the alternative cutscene was composed, Ireland had an interesting concept to it
  • It introduced Zip, which I liked in TRL
