The underlying idea might be that music is appreciated by wearing a dresscode. So your interest in music could make you one.
I know we are way too offtopic, but yeah. I believed what emo stood for, from music to values, to the way others and I saw the world and the people in it.
It's quite interesting to look back on it... and the ' it's not a phase mom' phase.

Its a tale as old as time.
The Less you can express yourself as an individual, the less you could stand up against Society and what it dictates etc.

So people with Colorful hair, not all, but enough for more Conservative people to see a pattern, tend to have "woke" opinions...therefore someone having colorful hair, is seen as a sign of that.
Wow, I never thought of this.

There's way more people in media that have colourful hair now.

I wonder if the rise of social media came 10 years earlier, would the Emo phase people try to dictate how the world should work as well? Because I remember there were so many people like that during my high school years.

Rawr! :3 ;D ♡

I'm not a subculture expert but bright hair is more associated with Scene Kids from what I saw
TRIGGER WARNING: possible high-school flashbacks

The goth collage has a wee bit of an inaccuracy because Manson's music isn't of the goth genre

And I just noticed the whole second collage is out of date since Blood On The Dance Floor has been canceled because one of the dudes shamelessly preyed on teenage girls. Remember the "You done goofed! Reported you to the internet police" guy? His daughter Jessi Slaughter blew the whistle and got seriously cyber-bullied and her (now they, I think) vindication was never fully spread around when the story broke years later

Wow, that went off topic.
This is all because of Belinda's pronouns being she/her? That's declaring her cis femininity. What is the problem, edgelords? She's being gendernormative.

Usually when non-trans people add pronouns to their bio it just means they are an ally.
