I'll: -move items/skip level cheats to inventory -make BITS only unlock special features (since items cheat will give you the items) -separate weapon and items cheats, that way if someone only wants weapons, but not puzzle/key items, they can use it edit: all done, also added a cheat to heal lara, items one won't do that anymore.

Been replaying TRC the past week with this patch and it's great. This project is very respectful to the original game and doesn't try to add a bunch of random crap that it doesn't need. It does just enough to make it an experience that feels both authentic and updated. This is how this game is meant to be played.

![]() One thing i believe is not needed and doesn't fit this game is the enemies health bar, this feels wrong and annoying and makes it feel like your playing a different game. I have turned it off but i don't see the point of adding it in the first place, feels out of place. Last edited by Salem150; 17-12-21 at 03:07. |

^ The point is that it's an option.
Saying you don't like it is one thing. Everyone has preferences. But to say it's "wrong" and "annoying" when you don't even have to use it is just insulting the work Troye and co. are doing. Maybe it was added because someone really wanted to have that feature. Not everyone plays the same way. Just keep it off and forget it's there, simple as that.

Completely agree with Jathom95, how can you say that something is not needed when you are not the only one using this tool? Maybe for some people it is needed. What matters is that it's optional and you can completely ignore its existence if it's not your cup of tea.
If it was a mandatory addition, sure I might agree, but not like this. The more options we have, the better. |

I think this feature(enemies health bar)does not really work for this game, and no other tomb raider game have it even the new ones don't. It's more for a fighting style games like mortal combat, not for mystery and puzzle solving types of game that's why i said its wrong. I believe others here can agree with this too. But this just me thinks like that it doesn't really mean that it's wrong to be added. I didn't also mean that to remove it. It's just felt out of place to be added since no other tomb raider game had it and games in this style usually don't have it. It's just me personally that i did find it annoying so i had to say it because i care too much about this game. But if others like it that's fine and keep it. They can do what ever they want or add what they want as long as we can choose what to turn on or off as others think and feels differently about everything. |

I believe Tomb1Main also has the enemy health bar option, and that it's been fairly well received for that engine. And that's also people who care too much about these games.
Questioning how much more damage an enemy will take seems to be a semi-common occurrence in TR, particularly people who prefer pistol-only runs, so I think it has a place even if it's not to everyone's taste. I don't think style of game has anything to do with whether it "fits" (unless it's meant to be HUD-free). I'd say that a visual indicator of how much more you need to hit the enemy makes things more accessible, and should be an option for most games, even if off by default. Not getting at you here. It's interesting what different people think is a good addition or is out of place. As you say, the important thing is that there is a choice. |

I definitely hate enemy health bars so I'm glad it's optional.

But Troye and everyone else working on this project are doing a lot of hard work to fix up the game's issues. I know you weren't saying anything bad about the project itself, I mean you even said right at the beginning how much you appreciate it and all that. But sometimes, there's such a thing as saying too much. I know it's easy to be protective of these games (and I am too). But as long as a feature is optional, it's not a big deal. Someone working on this might've wanted that feature for their own personal game, we don't know. In the future, it's probably just best if anything to say something like "Hey, great work on all of this and looking forward to seeing where it goes! I'm not really crazy about some of the stuff personally like the enemy health bars. Don't think they really fit Tomb Raider's style, but hey - it's optional." Short, simple and to the point. ![]()

![]() I don't have much to add to the discussion other than, I know how much we love these games, that's why we are fixing it, we, both programmers/modders/editors AND players are what keeps the community alive, there is no need for fighting (but yes I did lose patience earlier in this thread and I apologize for that, I thought it was a direct insult and saw red) in any case, this is something we do in our free time, I made the new UI menu to make things optional as I perceived some people won't like them, that's why they are that: optional. I myself don't have them all on, for example: the ammo counter is a no for me, but i figure some people might like it ![]() I hope that discussion ends there ![]() ![]() anyway! New release is coming very very soon, we have a lot of exciting updates. biggest one would be fixed Red Alert savegame bugs ![]() ![]() Stay tuned!
