Default Urban Chaos [1999] Modding?

Anyone remember this rare gem?

I love this game, been replaying it from time to time since the 90's
And i'd like to know if there's someone here, who knows how to mod / swap some character models in this game.

I know there are some mods available online, i've checked some other forums, and asked here and there, but such old game uses weird file format.

I also know that there is a source code on github available [One of the original creators made it available]

But i'm such a noob when it comes to those things. Most mods are just cosmetic changes, or HD textures.

And since i've seen what some people are able to do with modern games, i thought that swapping models in old games should be much easier [At least in theory]

So, can anyone help?

I remember writing about Riot Response. Was the source code legitimately released? I'd be interested in checking it out.

Urban Chaos [1999] the one by Mucky Foot
Released on PSX and PC, with Lara Croft esque character

NOT Urban Chaos : Riot Response on PS2

My mistake, i thought You were talking about the second Urban Chaos Code.

Yes, it's still on github, released under MIT license, without assets. Some people already tried to bring back some cut content.
Apparently there were plans for bike, and grappling hook or something along the lines.

I don't know why, everytime i try to link something, or post screen / pic, it just doesn't work here.

So the best way is to search for URBAN CHAOS SOURCE CODE on the net.
Depending on explorer, it should be the very first result.

Or

Apparently posting wiki link worked. So nevermind that ;}

My main goal is to play game, or alter it a little bit, just for my own fun.

The game setting reminds me of Batman Animated Series.

So i wanted to swap playable models to bat-family.

Maybe change on driveable car to batmobile.

But i don't know how to edit this format, models are .PRM .

How to extract them, modify, and put them back into the game?

Would it be possible to swap model from other old PSX game?
