Default So does this mean Kurtis was meant to be dead?

Yes and no, it was meant to be a gate for Core Design to back out from introducing Kurtis in later games if fans hated him. So depending on reception, he was either dead or alive. Shortly after the game's release Murti provided Core with few sequel ideas and in all of them Kurtis was meant to be alive iirc. In one of the versions Lara was going to find Kurtis alive, but heavily weakened and imprisoned in the Pit where Lux Veritatis kept Eckhardt.

I don't see the hype surrounding Kurtis, his only purpose is being hot and creating sexual tension between him and Lara, he's one of the most boring characters ever.

Agreed 100(...)%

He’s the most bland, boring, ugly character in Tomb Raider ever. Good riddance!

I always liked Kurtis. A mysterious, cool character and he had a great voice actor.

the songs that are normally played in other TR games being played in this game is really off-putting

Just like how a TR4 TRLE plays the T-Rex theme or a TR3 TRLE plays the Egyptian Mood theme.

But I liked the choices for this DVD game. Fitting. And I like how they cut down Tomb of Ancients.

I am shook.

I skipped to the end and when she says “Werner my old friend. I have found your murderer. And I’ll carry your memory. Wherever my future takes me.”

I can see why they didn’t put that in on console because it kinda throws off that somber vibe and music score at the end..

BUT MAN, that just seems like a job well done sorta feeling! You accomplished what you set out to do!

He's boring because he's basically a less-capable version of Lara in the final game. The character was meant to be far more interesting though, unfortunately all of his special abilities and levels were cut due to development problems.

He was also introduced because Core and Murti were working on ideas for possible future spin-offs and different franchises. Tomb Raider allowed them to experiment with the idea of Kurtis Trent, and if he was well received, he would have got his own game.

— “I must get away from the police and find out what happened.”
— “Recovering Werner’s notebook might be a place to start.”
— “I’ll see Mademoiselle Carvier at the address he gave me.”
— “A crowbar.”
— “A gun! I’ll keep that ready to use.”
etc.
So it was never on consoles and PC.

Then there’s the extra scenes showing Lara’s face, whether she’s looking around or frowning. I honestly love the extra voice lines and the face details! Another reason to play it and notice the minor differences.

Watching little of a walkthrough for Act I, I just noticed that they cut and edited Lara’s jerky moves like ‘normally’ walking on stairs whilst in stealth and Lara reaching for the door to use the key whilst the game isn’t continuing like that!
