Tremolo, spoiler tags, if you're trying to use them are [Spoiler] [/ Spoiler] without the space. Otherwise it's still readable. Example.
you can't see this without clicking on Show Spoiler
I'm on a rewatch because I apparently was so absorbed watching before, I missed a few details. Last edited by Rai; 21-10-24 at 08:23. |

Considering myself it might be worth a rewatch, to pick up what I missed out on before.
Nothing else is calling to me on Netflix, and might aswell try to get a little more use out of it before it expires again. |

Roth's death trauma would've been a very good topic. For Rise. Not a decade later after it happened and after 2 games of another (daddy) trauma. Too late and too exhausting at this point

Though I want them to get this story out of the way here so that the next game has nothing to do with any form of, or any remote relation to ANYONES MOMMY AND DADDY OR SAD MEMORIES thx |

Now that I think more about it, it just irritates me even more that they didn't go with the obvious Roth trauma for the sequels instead of daddy issues. Like... it was writing itself basically... Lara feels guilty and has a few playable flashback levels (including opening level) in Rise depicting earlier archeo adventures with Roth. Combined with the time we already spent with him in TReboot, it would just feel natural and the players would feel connected to both of these characters and their relationship. And understand easily Lara's trauma.
It's writing 101 - ppl care about characters that they spend time with on-screen. That's why the daddy angle never work and never could work, we don't care about Richard or Amelia. With Roth being quintessential in TReboot and getting even more screen time in Rise flashbacks, it would simply work even if the writing of dialogues itself wasn't oscar-worthy. Just like it did with Von Croy. A perfect callback and reimagining of the same general idea. |

The childhood flashback and Manor DLC for Shadow made Richard Croft dead interesting to me for a short while, though. It felt especially in the DLC that Lara was making her peace with her dad once and for all, and I hate we didn't get DLC8. |

A proper formative connection wasn't present for her mother or father, 100%.
