Was Anniversary a DLC to Legend?
i want to know how this game was originally released. I learned recently that it was a DLC to Legend, so did it come out as a stand alone game after? if so when was it first released, 2006?

I don't recall it ever being marketed as a DLC to Legend, what little marketing the game did receive anyway. It was only ever referred to as a standalone release from what I know.
It was released a year after Legend was in 2006, so in 2007. The project idea initially started with Core Design, but Crystal pitched their own concept of an Anniversary release to Eidos at the time, and it was the one that ended up "winning out" so to speak. Yes and no. Anniversary for PC and PS2 was announced as a standalone release right out of the gate. Something weird happened when they eventually caved in and decided to port the game over to Xbox 360. I believe they split the game into two episodic packs (Peru/Greece, and Egypt/Lost Island -- the Croft Manor level was included in both for free) and marketed it as a DLC for Legend so people could play it asap without having to wait for the retail edition. Either way, they all came out in 2007.

Yeah, I distinctly remember having Anniversary as a split download add-on for Legend, despite it getting its own standalone release. The whole thing was odd, to say the least.
(As a side note, the game is now available free for a limited time... if you have an Amazon Prime subscription and a GOG account. I forgot just how solid Anniversary was until recently, imho) |
