I'm so lucky, second big acquisition from Microsoft and there's still not a single game on XBOX that would convince me to buy a console from them (I'm not talking about multiplatform games, I can play those on PS5/Switch too).

I don't care about Bethesda games or Activision games. But I do find it worrisome that Microsoft keeps buying (big) game studios with games that have many fans on other platforms. I'm pretty sure a majority of these games will be exclusive at some point.

Very, very disappointing move from Microsoft, Activision deserved to rot.

They most likely will fire a ton of people, rebrand, and start fresh….hopefully. I don’t think they will make all these games Xbox exclusives. Especially CoD, that would be a scary thought for Microsoft lol.

Smart move by MS.

The brand may be a trainwreck right now, but the portfolio is a literal goldmine.

I feel like for $70 billion they’ll make it all exclusive. They gotta move Xbox units somehow. This is a good move for Xbox, bad move for consumers.

That being said, I’ve learned about Xbox’s game pass thing and that it’s basically a subscription service for $15 a month and you can play anything you want in their library. My question is how much money actually goes to these developers with that $15? If I want to support a game that I like and love to see more of from that developer, how much is my $15 going to them to say “Hey! Love your stuff! Make more please!”

Yep. Activision was once a good company, long ago, maybe this will inject some new life into it.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, I guess.

Well GP is currently generating anywhere up to 3 Billion a year. Publishers can opt in or out of it, Ubisoft are never on it for example, but you get access to EA play too and if EA are happy to just give their stuff away then they must be getting a decent amount of money. Plus, being on GP doesn't bar you from buying the actual game either - you just get it at a discount.
