TRL comes first for me (first one played on PC and xBox).
TRA and TRU come in second (I always enjoyed and remember these). - all three of these stand out in my mind. However, I do enjoy all the TR games that I have owned and played. It’s just some sequences stand out more in my mind than others. ![]() ![]()

The original Tomb Raider. It, to me, personifies the title the best and is, to me, the most cohesive and complete. There is also something very elegant about its functional simplicity even though the game was, at first, quite an undertaking for me.

Agreed. Even playing it today, it still holds up, even though there have been many advances, both in graphics and gameplay, since 1996.

I love the specific question of which we liked the most because we don't have to take anything into account except personal choice.
The Lost Artifact by a lot because it's a kickass game and most of my memories of it were also during the best years of my life (so far) Edit- I realize I already sort of answered in this thread already ![]()

Being objective, i think 1 is the least flawed, yes it may be simpler, but i think the 1st game got the most right.
![]() Altho, Tomb Raider 3 is almost it, if it had a tad more polish, i'd say it could've been the best! Like the usual comments here, i want the future to take the classics as the base, TR3 perhaps, but with Underworld's moveset, and modern controls. |

Tomb Raider II - It takes all the great stuff from the first game and expands on it all while still being faithful to the Classic formula. Improved save system, outdoor environments, new stunts for Lara, better weapon variety, vehicles that can be driven, etc. It also contains some of my favorite levels in the series - the Deck, Barkhang Monastery, Wrect of the Maria Doria, Temple of Xian, and Floating Islands.
The original TR game is very close behind though. |

I always thought the first one had a unique aesthetic that the later games didn't have.

I found TR2 better, love almost all the levels and additions, while TR1 has Tomb of Tihocan and Atlantis that I'm not find of, but I don't hate them. The only thing that the game does wrong, it's the abusive number of human encounters but it's still bearable as there are plenty of different enemies as well.
