I hope more good than bad comes from this merger. I'm just not sure, and I am glad the UK brick-walled it as they did to bring such concerns to the public eye instead of it all happening hush-hush enough, that it's just the new status-quo.

Competition must be allowed, and monopolization leads to anti-consumerist agenda being fulfilled for gross profit. We've already seen such damage at play for decades in Big Pharma (especially in America), and how Big Tech has too firm a hold with lobbyist policies already.

This is my feeling as well. I just hope some good comes from this and not bad. Looking at Microsoft history it seems dubious at best.

I'm honestly conflicted with how to feel about Phil.

On the one hand, and especially compared to Don Mattrick (though he set the bar extremely low to begin with), he has had pretty great ideas for the Xbox brand as a whole. Building up the backwards compatibility program when PS was making people buy the same games again to be able to play them on newer consoles, giving people huge value through Game Pass compared to any previous attempts, etc.

I'm kind of in the same boat as everyone else. I'm just hoping that this will be something at least with more positives than negatives.

Very sad news, they are just going to cancel all PlayStation versions of games and be really anti competitive with gamers. Internal documents have proven that all Bethesda games will be Xbox exclusive and that all Sony versions of their games were all cancelled.

Id be more bothered if Sony hadn't literally bought exclusivity of Bethesda games whilst the MS deal was in the offing. Bethesda seems the scummy one there, I won't lie.

They're getting CoD for at least 10 years from the date of acquisition. Sony need to get off their ass in their ivory tower and make some decent games rather than sitting on their laurels cause their efforts this gen have been absolutely abysmal.

In other news, a financial Times article has reportedly laid out how MS, or another Western company, buying Nintento could be a good move for financial culture in Japan.

Nintendo sell to Microsoft?

In any event, I hope this means Sony focuses on some old shooters in their future. SOCOM could make a comeback if it’s done right.

God, I'd forgotten all about SOCOM.

If it ever came back, I wish it would go back to it's tactical roots, though it probably wouldn't happen. They tried to "modernize" it with 4 and it failed.

That’s exactly what shouldn’t happen. No COD clone BS. Go back to its tactical roots! We don’t really have one like that.

I was thinking something that’s more like a stealth version of PUBG, with refined controls and of course a good narrative that warrants fun missions like in SOCOM2 and 3.

I know everyone says 2 was the best but 3 will forever have my heart. Sony can definitely make something like that to be a staple in their lineups. Sure, it’s not run and gun like COD but it’s different. We need something different in order to compete because nothing can topple COD.
