Some things I've noticed when trying to mod TR6 Remastered:

When exporting to LARAD_HD.CHR, the mesh looks fine, but the textures don't show. They appear in shades of red and black all over the mesh.

So I renamed it to LARAD.CHR, which is the one used in original graphics, and the textures showed correctly now. However, the game crashes after some seconds (needless to say, it only works when you start a new game, because if you try to load a saved game, it crashes).

I tried using different formats to see which one would show the textures in HD graphics: TGA, DDS DXT1, DDS DXT5, DDS BC7, but nothing. I also tried to replace the textures in the TEX folder of TR6, like LARA_DENIM_1_D.DDS, but still got the same result.

Then I decided to download a mod from Nexus Mods for the original TR6. It worked in OG graphics only and this time the game didn't crash, so maybe I'm doing something wrong on my end.

If someone knows how the textures work in the HD models and can offer some insight, it would be very appreciated.

UPDATE: Ok, I found that the texture that needs to be replaced in 6/TEX is AQUALUNG_MASK_D.DDS! Now the texture shows correctly in HD graphics. Now all I need is to find a way to delete that head. I'm not sure why it shows up, I made sure to delete all objects before the export

Are you trying to mod the remaster? If so, you can't mod the updated graphics as it uses a slightly different format. You can only make changes to the old graphics for now, if you try to mod HD Lara everything is distorted and her old head starts showing up.

You'll need to get in contact with mariokart to ask him to update his tools. This is why I'm not modding AOD HD yet, I ran into these issues but I always forget to ask him when I have the spare time The format doesn't seem to have changed much, so hopefully he'll be interested in making remaster support as well.

I see. The model exporting seems to be fine for the most part, the downside is that it takes too long to export any model with more than 5k faces. As for the visible head, only thing I've managed to do so far is to delete LARAD.CHR, and even though this does hide the face, the eyes are still visible. If I try deleting another OG Lara model, the game crashes.

So yeah, an update for this tool would be nice. I'll see if I can get in contact with mariokart64n.

Question

Hey guys, I'm trying to alter the textures for the ammo types in the remaster. The endgame is to release a mod that makes it clearer what the hell you just picked up

I'm satisfied with what I've created for INVENT_78.DDS, but it only seems to update the textures when viewed in the inventory - when I pick items up in Paris they still have the old textures.

Are there duplicates of these textures elsewhere in the game files? Where can I find these?

It's a debug option that makes the entire room geometry transparent. I ignore its purpose, maybe it was used for checking rooms visibility.
