Thumbs down Arson Attack on KyoAni Animation Studio; 30+ Dead and many injured

Absolutely Disgusting and horrible.

Quote:
Police said the 41-year-old suspect broke into the Kyoto Animation studio on Thursday morning and sprayed petrol before igniting it.

The suspect has been detained and was taken to hospital with injuries.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the incident was "too appalling for words" and offered condolences.

Kyoto Animation, known as KyoAni, produces films and graphic novels and is well regarded by fans for the quality of its productions.
For those who aren't Anime fans and haven't heard of Kyo Ani studio, its probably one of the best Anime studios in the world with an Art Style, Quality and content that is in a category in itself.

To Appreciate just how good these guys are, have a look at this clip from one of their recent hit anime series; Violet Evergarden:

Nuff said.

Furthermore, this studio has one of the best HR track records when it comes to the treatment of their employees. Their animators are one of the highest paid ones in the Industry and are personally taught by the animation studio.

I can't fathom as to why anyone would go all ape**** and start killing KyoAni employees.

This has been a huge shock to the Anime Community.

RIP to the victims.

I really don't know what an Anime studio could have done to offend someone into doing that. It's really strange, but devastating nonetheless.

This is absolutely horrible and tragic. I've loved every single thing of theirs I've ever seen. This would, of course, be terrible and tragic no matter where it happened, but with all the emotions their shows have given me, it somehow feels even worse.

Regardless of their talent (of which there is plenty), this is absolutely abhorrent.

Good god.

Only "good" part is the suspect apparently injured himself if he was taken to the hospital with injuries.

What kind of evil has to grip someone to make them capable of doing this? Freaking unreal and horrific.

This is awful. KyoAni is the one animation studio in Japan that actually had above average working conditions for their employees.
Their shows are so good.

It's awful regardless.

Shocking. :/

I wonder why anyone would do this. Maybe it was a mentally unstable ex-employee with a grudge. Were there any news updates?
