That is absolutely what made the plateforming in the game so fun for me.
I believe the only reason they just messed up that was because of the mocap and they never touched it again (except for cutscenes). I prefer them to try (mocap or not), doing nothing is worse imo, Lara should expend her platforming skills at this state. ^^

And she spilt the tea already! I agree.

Shadow is OK at platforming imho.

I find it ok too, like a decent base but now the origin ark is over I am hungry for more.
Overhang climbing was a really neat addition, if it is not coming back in the next I would not be happy.

Of course we need more parkour and acrobatics. Lara Croft is supposed to be an "Olympic-standard gymnast" and "a natural athlete" according to the two bios. Mocap has improved drastically since 2008 so there's no way we would get Underworld 2.0

You know, i keep thinking about the platforming and i wonder if parkour/free running is the right thing.
Of course i love me a good free running gameplay and all...but how about just focusing on lara being more a gymnast?
Parkour etc speeds up the platforming, why not slowing it down?
You need to either way build the world around her being able to get past things.

You come to a jump and there are three differen variables, you can make the jump solid, you barely make it or you get past that in a different manner(be it going around it or use another mechanic)
So level design either way is built around the way lara platforms.

Why not completely focusing on a simpler method?
Have her be able to make bigger jumps with momentum, focus on momentum with platforming.
Yeah it forces the level design to be a bit more forced, but its either way forced because it all is in some way connected to help lara around.

I dont know, i love smooth and fast paced free running/parkour...but i keep thinking that a lot more slowed down platforming could also be nice.
One that has you keep thinking if you have enough momentum for a jump, takes out the fast pace a bit.

Hmmm.. I definitely think that Lara needs to be more athletic.

Underworld was fun with its added layers of platforming in what Lara could do. Thailand was a wonderful example..
I want TR to be more like that TBQH
Make exploring fun again!

Uncharted Lost Legacy had some awesome climbing/grapple sections that were really inventive.. sliding too.
Some areas felt quite like classic TR in this regard.. something modern TRs are missing.
Sliding down slopes, having to steer and jump across gaps as you slide etc..

I feel like someone Lara's age and background would have very much been into parkour or free running. I really wanted to see them go down this route rather than things like that horrid double jump to reach a ledge or using a pick axe on a rope to wall run.

Gymnastics is one thing Parkour is a completely different thing.
"Parkour is about overcoming obstacles while Gymnastics is about flexi stuffs"

Lara already looks more like Prince of Persia, Disney character , rather than a flexible sexy archaeologist.
