Some time must have passed between the cinematic and the start of the level as the cutscene takes place during nighttime while the level takes place during the day.

It's between The Great Wall and Jungle for me, but I think I prefer The Great Wall just because how insane it is. Caves for example eases the player really well into the gameplay mechanics and level design, but The Great Wall is just brutal for a first time player.
Not to mention it probably has the best secret of any Tomb Raider game ever. |

Believe it or not, I actually find Jungle a harder first level than Great Wall. Not necessarily because of incessant death traps or anything, but because it's pretty long and has that "where do I go next?" kinda feel. Gorgeous scenery though.

the beginning of great wall doesnt make sense. why is she dropping down that cave just to instantly climb back up
