Sony are taking the biscuit a bit this gen, not really sure how they're not being taken to task in it by consumer opinion like the PS3 was.

I no longer use PS Plus I deliberately let it expire and won't be renewing it as I've come to see PS Plus as a waste of money as I don't play multiplayer games and because most of the free games don't appeal to me, throughout the entire time I had PS Plus I downloaded only 5 of the free games.

Stray was on PS Plus when it was released I don't know if it still is and while I could have gotten it for free I chose not to as I was letting my PS Plus expire and paid for it instead, the reason why I paid for it I wanted to own it and not get it free on PS Plus and have to pay 60 euro every year for continued access to Stray, a one off payment for Stray is preferable to having to pay to renew every year for continued access to Stray.

PS Plus is nothing more than a rental service for games they lure you in with free games then if you want continued access to your free games you have to pay whatever amount of money for however long you want to use PS Plus for, last time I checked there were 4 options for PS Plus, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and a year.

PS Plus lost it's appeal for me which made it an easy decision to let it expire and not bother to renew it, since I let it expire I don't miss PS Plus.

Would any kind soul explain this to me? If I buy Horizon Forbidden West for PS4 and upgrade it to the PS5 version, am I saving 10 USD in the process because I'll end up getting the same version in the end than if I buy the PS5 version directly?

You should be saving 10 dollars maybe someone who has upgraded the PS4 version to the PS5 version could help you, I have the PS4 version but haven't upgraded because I don't have a PS5 yet.

I had no issues I was able to play Stray and Fallout Shelter with no trouble, it's issues like that, that make a digital only future undesirable with some games becoming unplayable because of glitches or worse some licences permanently expiring leading to the loss of a game from digital stores forever, I have a physical copy of the PS4 version of Stray for whenever I get a PS5.

Game preservation should be taken more seriously if I wanted to I could find a copy of a movie released over 50 years ago with no difficulty but trying to get a game that was released in the last 20 or more years can be difficult remember Sony's attempt to shut down the PlayStation store on PS3 and the uproar that followed we were that close to losing access to the PS1 classics Sony should at least have transferred the PS1 classics to PS4 PSN had they gone ahead with their plan plus it would be better than the new PS Plus which has had very few PS1 classics uploaded last time I checked and let's not forget the mess that is the PS1 classic that was released a few years ago, I have one I got it for 20 euro GameStop continually dropped the price starting at 80 then 60 then 40 before it reached 20 the PS1 classic was not worth 100 euro.

^ thanks for that article, DragonSlayer! I forgot this whole confusing business with Horizon's versions existed. I finally bought a PS5 and Horizon is on sale right now, so I noticed the weird pricing and vaguely remembered what happened :/

The fact that they didn't "fix" this is stupid.
