That's one of the great things about this game and the other older TRs - a real sense of 'place' in each location. It is that mix of graphics, level design and sound not just, as with so many modern games, the fine detail.

The graphics are crude by today's standards but the worlds created still stick in you mind. As Sheldon Cooper (TBBT) once said about another old game-

"It runs on the world's most powerful graphics chip, imagination."

What was the reason for lara activating the missle in Area51?

So a trapdoor would open, allowing her to more conveniently climb up a ladder.

This is the same woman who blew up an entire building in Bartoli's Hideout because it was in her way, lmfao.

Remember she turned the power off to the Strahov, letting the Proto-Nephilim out to kill most of the staff because it opened the easiest route?
That's our classic Lara

It's one of the most hilarious examples of video game logic tbh.

Launch mystery missile to open a door

On a somewhat less whimsically hilarious note, in TR: Lost Artifact she killed zoo animals just chilling in their habitats in order to pass through :/
Couldn't she have just searched the shoreline to begin with? Sophia wasn't even in the damn zoo. Lara had the Hand at the beginning of the level but I guess she felt the need to hunt down and kill Sophia for closure or something.

I appreciate to see the comparison differences from the early versions of TR3 to the retail version of TR3 especially when there's different sound fx & geometry in the E3 1998 & ECTS version of TR3

This made me laugh. You don’t really think about it when playing, but on reflection… launching a unknown missile from the most secretive military base in the world… to get to a ladder . Very interesting judgement and reasoning.

The reason why you need to press that button for the rocket to fly up in space is because that's the only way how she needs to reach up on the tower especially in the Area 51 demos as well

Lmao, I love moments like this. Another favorite moment of mine from the same section is Lara having to push blocks in order to reach a switch to flood the bathroom, which leads to a hole in the ceiling, and finally leads to a switch that turns off the stove in the kitchen.

Or how the switches to unlock doors in the Offshore Rig levels are next to giant underwater fans.
