Not a half bad idea. I actually wouldnt mind where there are periods of Lara touching an artefact or something that allows her to have a vision into the past to explore a characters adventure. For example, Lara comes across a a fragment of Cleopatra's box, and as shes narrating the theories of what happened/how it got there, we actually go back in time and play Cleopatra escaping a dangerous environment with the box. Short bursts of 10 minute gameplay just to showcase the myth

I’ve personally had enough of inhabited large ancient cities. To me the amazing thing of TR is exploring the remains of lives gone by. It all loses its awe if there are hundreds of people ambling round. Let’s leave the history simulation to Assassins Creed.

A lot of what you describe sounds incredibly close to what Paititi was and we already know a large portion of the fanbase couldn't stand it or the forced social aspect. So, I don't think this is the best of ideas for the series. Plus, I think this would just drive the series even further from it's roots, and there's already established series with experiences like that. I want Tomb Raider to be Tomb Raider, if I wanted something as you described I'd just play Assassins Creed, as others have said.

I absolutely hate that idea. If I want that I play Assassins Creed. But I also don’t like that game.

I love this idea. Evil Within 2 did the same thing and I really enjoyed it. It actually really worked to show how far Sebastian has come.

Whilst I know TR is (for the most part) firmly in fantasy fiction, with many supernatural elements, including time portals (TRL... "Don't touch the sword"), it still kind of felt quite grounded in reality. I always find this sort of supernatural fiction works best when it's an extension of reality, rather than completely redefining the rules. Whilst the element of time travel is really cool, and would fit in certain fiction based around time travel (Doctor Who), I just don't see it working in TR. Playing as a historical figure for part of the game would be quite cool though, even if there are fantastical elements within those sections.

I generally love time-traveling plots and wouldn't mind seeing it in a future TR game. Games like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask had time-traveling stories that generate a lot of discussions. In regards to Tomb Raider, I wouldn't want to see it as the main plot of the game and would rather see it isolated to one section of the game. For example, Lara has to travel to X location to retrieve a piece of an artifact. But the power of the artifact sends her back to that period of time in order to achieve it. It does make for an interesting discussion though.
