The M rating was a good move for the reboot. I hope it continues.

I don’t really care what’s the rating, so long as the gore and violence is done a little differently and Lara swears less next game. To be blunt.

M-rated, you are allowed much more freedom than being rated T.

It depends on who is developing the game. Personally, I don't think Crystal/Eidos always handled the mature rating well. For example, a lot of the gorey sections throughout the games have been often spoilt by hilarious physics on corpses etc. Plus, the use of swearing has often felt forced and excessive. Shadow is incredibly bad for this! Apparently Lara doesn't know any other adjective but ****. It felt like a bunch of kids got hold of a game developing kit and got overly excited over the fact they could use naughty words.

I don't think T is too restrictive.
Just look at AOD, it had a serial killer and also featured blood, someone getting electrocuted and humans turning into monsters but it was a T rated game. When they make it T rated, they have to be more creative on how the violence appears on screen.(Making it in a way to not get that M rating) |

Remember the rocket and grenade launcher? Classic games would have been M rated, they were violent and gory. In fact, Shadow is just too bland in that regard. We need more gore.

T rating is something that I hope we never have to see ever again. M rating fits TR like a glove and the franchise has always been pretty violent at times, save the LAU trilogy AKA tomb raider for toddlers.
It's one of things of the things reboot brought to the table that should stick. I have to agree, she is amazing as Jo Wilson. And I really like her both as an actress and as a person, but I don't think she's the right person to play Lara Croft. |
