This thread is venom. Anyways...

Brand new Classic Tomb Raider.

It's not classic Tomb Raider if the storyline takes place in another continuity. So it must abide by the original timeline... of classic Tomb Raider. The same goes for the mechanics, they must be an accurate re-simulation of the original 1-5 mechanical reality.

Reminder:
- Tank-orientation
- Contextual Camera
- Look Function
- Walk & Crawl are the stealth functions

Additions:
- They can add new moves, like the walking hop from AOD, I think that fits into a Tomb Raider game with more nuanced geometry.

- Army crawl can be added

- More stealth opportunities, pushing dead rolling balls or pushblocks over edges and into patrolling enemies

- When you're backed in a corner, surrounded by dinosaurs running at you, you can run towards them and they part ways enough to let you re-engage in combat

- Broader interactive object detection. So you don't have to be right in the exact spot to push the TR4-type levers, might make those moments a bit smoother.

I am 1000% here for the ideas listed in the OP or what Melonie suggested. Both sound amazing.

Take the classics and just give them modern day graphics and animations.

The only exception is I would take a visually realistic adaptation with more contextual and nuanced animations. Same tank-orientation and speeds though, as well as jump heights... Just a visually realistic adaptation for a telling of the origin story. Whichchch would be... featuring only animal enemies and mostly puzzle and platforming gameplay, which is valid. And... they would be classic-type puzzles. Everything classic, except for the graphics and animations. And yes there's a healthbar. and she has her backpack, but she has to retrieve it from a part of the wreckage.

- pushblocks to break ice floors
- torches to burn things
- i cant think of anymore ideas
- cutscenes
- gathering survival items
- freezing waters
- freezing winds (i dont know how cold the himalayas are)
- monkey bars

The control system would need to be updated. The modern grid square system, which ironically was an option to activate in shadow, would work really well for modern TR.

Take a classic game, with the same physics, level design and Lara's abilities and capabilities
+ updated the graphics
+ free camera
+ instant jump button
+ lock-on with switch target command

Basically Anniversary but with everything that got lost in the process.
