Psiko: Ahh, I haven't forgotten about those ones. I'm letting them sit for a while before I go back and do a final tweak with fresh eyes.

Anyway, I sorted out those dodgy looking crate textures this evening, and decided to keep things aesthetically closer to the originals...

While I'm working on the metal set, I'd like to do a little research into animated textures for the lava. Can anyone recommend what software programs and techniques I should look into? I'd be much appreciative.

Well, you could just use Photoshop. Its animation tools should be sufficient for creating animating textures for the level editor. If you want to get a little fancier, there's of course After Effects or you could also use 3D editing software with fluid and particle dynamics (though I'm not sure how easy it is to create actually tileable animating textures from that). But yeah, if you're not familiar with After Effects or 3D editing software, I'd suggest just trying out Photoshop's animation tools first to see if they can get you the results you want.

Zebra: Oohh, I didn't even know that PS had that side to it. Then again, I mostly just use it for painting, so you can't blame me too much, haha!

Thanks for the info. I will be looking into it.

Munin Raven - your textures are superb. Where are you taking them pictures from? They look so high quality I'm starting to cry of joy.

It is possible in 3ds max to render animation as several separate .png files with background being transparent, so it should be just about fine. Other 3d programs have probably similar function.
