Wait why would anyone hate that and how was that weird. I hated the reboot alot, but that scene was fine. Lara kissed him on the cheek to say thank you. Maybe some don't get it because perhaps a kiss on the cheek doesn't mean the same thing in other countries, but that was a thank you gesture. It didn't mean anything more or less, the point of it was to express how much gratitude Lara has for Alex sacrificing himself for her. It's an emotional scene and I never had a problem with it.

We knew Alex for what feels like 2 minutes so I couldn't really care about him.

I always thought Alex turned his head on his own, to spare Lara the indiginty of kissing him on the lips.
It is a very weird scene tbh. Last edited by Shirley_Manson; 15-08-19 at 09:17. |

This scene reminded me about the one in TR5, in the submarine at the very end when she has to left the "not so bad" guy in order to survive. In TR5 I found this scene very emotional even if we don't really know that character, they truly connect to each other at this moment.
In TR reboot it's kinda the same scene but it's here for no reason and the emotional thing is overplayed. What could have been more powerfull (but going a bit more far away from TR) is that Alex could have been Lara's lover, and his death would lead her to a life of solo adventure and no love life like in the classics. |

If you were face to face with someone (anyone) who is willing to sacrifice their life to save your life and you had to leave them - what would you do? Would you hug them-kiss them on the cheek-just turn and go-etc.? Maybe depends on how emotional we are. And how close to the person we are at the time. But, even hard to leave a stranger that you know will die to save your life.
