I preferred 2, 3 was good but focused a bit too much on vehicle and gimmick levels, plus had less interesting secrets. If it had an extra five or so normal platforming levels though...

Cortex strikes back will always be my favourite. It was the one my sister and I played the most. For some reason I could never complete the 1st game, as I always preffered playing the second one. The third game was good too but I disliked the racing/boat levels, which is why I prefer the second game.
I've noticed CB 1,2 and 3 have the same progress as UC1/2/3 and TR 1/2/3. In each second game snow levels are introduced. Then in each 3rd game the locations are much more varied and in CB3 and UC3 Arabian/Egypt locations are introduced. Then TR3 and CB3 they try really hard to be varied in terms of locations and vehicles. Each 3rd game also introduces the Sprint. Also reboot/CB1/UC1 are based on an island. Just things I've noticed Last edited by Tombraider95; 20-06-16 at 19:25. |

Twinsanity was a bug ridden mess (I know glitches when I see them), sad really because the direction it was seemly going was imo good but it didn't execute very well in areas. Hence the mixed reception.

Pictured: not a snow level Crash parallels Spyro much more, only major difference was the racing game spinoffs. First three games, of increasing mechanical complexity and graphical fidelity. then the series was sold to another company that tried and failed to emulate the gameplay, before more successfully translating the gameplay to some handheld games. Then they made one in a different, but good gameplay style, before going off the rails with a weird reboot, then being relegated to trash. Not really. Wasn't bad, was a lot better than when they failed to properly emulate the originals, but there were a lot of problems and I still prefer the gameplay of the first three. The glitches alone were really bad, the controls weren't nearly as tight, Nina and Cortex were underutilized, there was no bonus level, ending, or otherwise gratifying reward for collecting all the gems, animations were quite often not synced properly to what was going on, or just didn't quite fit at. I hope they would release Wrath of Cortex, Twinsanity and Tag Team Racing as PS2 classics at least. They are great games, even though not as great as the PS1s.
Let me get my PSP out for Tag Team Racing Out of the original Trilogy, the first one I played was Cortex Strikes Back but I prefered Warped mainly becaus Coco was playable. She's the best! |
