I think that is the point, to get a feel for the size and that the locations are "desolated".
It works when you first unlock the places and play through, but then, yeah they are Imo way too big and empty when you want to 100% the game.

to be honest i could do with less people too. i like the size though. makes them feel more of a real village "city"... thats how i thought vilcabambas in the anniversary was going to go for. a massive settlement.... can wait to see whatever they come up with in the next game.

The hubs in rise were better than shadow i believe, geothermal valley hub offered a lot of exploration and hunting and other stuff, but the shadow hubs are really empty and a massive waste of space.

They could have made paititi a dynamic hub with guards who can identify you and stuff, but it was just bland with two side missions and nothing else to do.

So much area is wasted just to add two vendors.
While they crafted the best looking open world in shadow they took 2 steps back in replayability and hubs.

The prison area is so useless, apart from one tomb does anyone even go back there?
I always find myself roaming in the peruvian jungle or san juan bcs they offer good exploration, but the hubs? Nah.

I am not saying they should take other games for inspiration, but if they want to metro exodus really did well with the semi open world concept.
Which tr trilogy has, and they did it right. Big semi open world but lots and lots to explore.
Exodus is proof that you can have big and non empty gorgeous looking open worlds.

I agree with this portion of your post.
I wish they've added dynamic events to Paititi, and it would also be awesome to have a mission, and/or in-game event, or mayble part of the main story, something at night in Paititi, like, nobody's on the street but the guards, and maybe some wild animals, and you'd have to navigate through the city to reach a certain spot without being detected, to retrieve something and then come back to the cave again - with stuff to enhance the experience, such as really pitch dark palces, pure slience, hearing her hearbeat in really though situations, etc (kinda like it happens in Cenote)

I've said before that Paititi should have had four "states" of gameplay.

The first exactly as it is, restrictions and all, up until Unuratu's arrest.

The second one between Unuratu's arrest and her death, where Lara has to actively avoid Serpent Guards, unless she is disguised. Perhaps the more side-quests you did, the more regular Paititians would help Lara avoid guards.

The third when Lara goes back to Paititi to stop Amaru, with no restrictions and active combat in the streets of Paititi so Lara can reach the temple where Amaru is (instead of being just talk with Etzil)

The fourth one being once again pacific, but this time with no restrictions.

Can they at least patch the 2013 and classic skins to be less shiny.

And have angel of darkness lara's eyes and lips move like in rise?

Given how the marketing of shadow was a meme in itself, i expect tr12 announcement on April 1st.
