Well we'll never know but you have a point. Underworld lukewarm release may encourage them to change the direction between Ascension and the reboot we know. Still I think the main motivation for rebooting the series was to succeed in the AAA teritories, it was an Eidos fantasy since 2009

Maybe MS had a hand in Rise not being relevant in the AAA market, but MS had a big hand in the Tomb Raider series since Legend. It could be due Eidos needed the money badly, as their woes led to Square Enix buying them out. |

Can't beat any classic Tomb Raider though, of course that's my opinion. Last edited by Greatest TR; 17-01-19 at 13:45. |

Underworld is a good game and it is fun to play. But the weird animations and Lara looking like a doll makes it feel off sometimes. I also feel like it dropped in quality after Thailand. I mean a lot of the areas felt empty and Croft Manor was random and short. Probably because they deliberately cut content for DLC. Then you get those endless corridors filled with the exact same enemies..
It's still a fun game and the soundtrack is absolutely amazing but other than that you often get an 'ehh' vibe. |

My favorite levels in the game were probably Thailand and Southern Mexico. They were both brilliantly done, and I thoroughly enjoy playing through them. After Thailand, all levels except for Southern Mexico (which is one of the best TR levels CD ever created imo) and maybe the final level always felt like filler levels that they threw in to make the game not feel very lazy and short. I would have preferred if they kept the BTA section of Croft Manor in the game and maybe made some three or four fun, short DLC that had to do with the aftermath of the events in the game. |
