Default The Eurovision Song Contest 2019

The contest this year will be hosted in Tel Aviv, Israel following Netta's win last year in Portugal.

Broadcast dates:

Semi-final 1
14 May 2019

Semi-final 2
16 May 2019

Final
18 May 2019

Full information on entries here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovi...g_Contest_2019

Who are your favourites this year (and in previous years!) and who do you think will win?

---

If the UK sent this song to Europe again, it would have suited the Brexit situation perfectly.

Also, did it really come down to one of the few straight guys on here to setup a Eurovision thread in APRIL? I remember when TRF had a Eurovision pre-season starting around Christmas time. Up your game lads.

I only listened to a medley of songs and my impression is that most of them are the usual pop fare and I didn't find them too special.

There are some tracks which could easily be club hits and have strong production quality, I feel like they can stand on their own outside of the contest, but also don't seem to "fit" Eurovision much, for lack of a better word.

But also quite a lot of slow, ballad songs which don't really stay with you.

Somehow I remember the "Run with the lions" (?) song and Sweden's song as well, thanks to FreakRaider bringing it up recently.

I can't see anyone currently who stands out like Netta did, or Conchita, or Loreen.

Omg lol
this does stand out indeed but I'm more taken by the woman dangling in the back than the song

The singer does seem to have a powerful voice, but overall impression for me is that it's all a bit messy

I've been so caught up in my internship, that I completely forgot it's almost here. O.o

I still have a few songs left to listen, and I already forgot about every single one I've heard except our "Telélélélé....móvel" thing.

Though I'm glad for our entry, because the dancer is by far the best thing.

I heard Maruv were gaining a lot of traction and popularity but were ultimately banned because of some political mumbo jumbo with Russia.

^ It's so sad what happened with Ukraine. I like Maruv's song, so catchy

Switzerland is my winner this year Luca Hänni <3
