Yeah, reading the actual response from Alicia, it does sound less like a "maybe, let's hope" and more than "it's still early because we've had a recent change of direction, but most likely yes", which gives me hope.
It would be nice to know when the interview was actually held, though...

A bit off-topic perhaps, but Extra Credits made a new video about why the newer videogame movies might have not been bad, but still aren't great.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7lM0o9IARQ And while Tomb Raider isn't mentioned, it's kind of interesting how TR2018 seems to almost be an example of both what this movies are doing right and wrong in their opinion:
It also wasn't afraid to change the dynamics between the established characters (mainly Lara, Richard and Mathias), though in TR2018 case, it wasn't always for the better. But it still is an interesting analysis of recent videogame movie trends, and it will be interesting to see if where Tomb Raider: Obsidian will lean towards to.

While I do think Tomb Raider 2 will happen as it is IP for Amazon - it won't be until after the acquisition as I am currently fundraising and the grapevine is there's no point pitching there right now - at least their European base. Now maybe exceptions can be made but that was also the case during Disney acquisition of Fox.

I don't wanna be a downer but I honestly wish Tomb Raider 2 had came sooner rather than later, I know that the pandemic couldn't have made this possible but having the film release in 2023 or even 2024 puts a lot of time between the release of the first film and the sequel.
This could work out in their favour in that it allows time to distance itself from the first film and possibly picks up a larger audience or that the audience have waited to long and the interest dwindles. Alicia has also given this new interview and the wording make it sound a lot more definite than the previous. Hopefully she gets to read that script soon. ![]() http://www.gamespot.com/amp-articles.../1100-6494189/

At least it won't have to compete with The Little Mermaid or any Disney remakes

Besides, we all would rather have the movie coming sooner or later. In fact, in a world without Covid, we'd already be discussing it. Yes, 5 or 6 years between sequels seems too long, but we are also in a world where everything got delayed. It's still a long time, but it's also expected considering the time were living. I still feel like things will come around, rather quickly now. I feel like we'll perhaps have more concrete info in September, like with the Ben Wheatley version in 2019. I mean, we had info Amy Jump was brought to the project in April and then Ben and a release date in September. Now we had Misha confirmed as writer and director in January, first draft in May, if negotiations now go well, I can see them deciding a release window in September again. But let's see ![]()
