Ironic if Amazon is bidding on this! As I wrote years ago on this forum, I told you Green was a DeLuca pick. It seems the real issue stemmed from the Glickman leadership of post-2018 movie. I'm glad they didn't move forward with Ben Wheatley if it was just a traditional action'er. I think you need something different to survive in the cinema's today. Also SQUARE ENIX ****ing everything up yet again.
Warners could be likely as they need new IP if DC is on it's way out and they're clearing that deck to reboot it - yet again. I still hope of course, Alicia Vikander stays on this. I posted my casting list in the other thread and it's so bleak in the sense I just don't know of any current actresses who can top Alicia Vikander unless they get Angelina back but as this says; it's not a possibility under GK Films! BTW; this doesn't say Vikander and Green were fighting; they just had creative issues over aspects of the script - that is so normal for any films where your name is plastered on it because even if you're just an actor - your the face of it! Oh, but this article confirms it'll be a movie - not a series. The main reason I'm championing Vikander is having done the LIVE EXPERIENCE in London I got a taste of her more mature Lara and it was good ****, like she delivered and it was fresh, she wasn't like Keeley or Jonnell etc. Quote:

Wow, last we heard Alicia and Misha were getting along well and looking forward to working together on the movie. What a turn in events. MGM really were dragging their feet on the sequel, though it seems budget was an issue. Lets hope a new studio will pick up the rights and move swiftly to get a movie back on track.
Like you, Tonyrobinson, I hope G K Films still consider Alicia for the role.

So HOPEFULLY from what I understand is that they want this film made pretty quickly. Graham King doesn't want to dawdle with this franchise and wants progress to happen and happen fast especially if there is just weeks to complete the deal.
If it goes to Amazon then that will be ironic, also Michael DeLuca is at Warner Bros now so that's another sort of indication it could go back to him but given how they just treated Batgirl I don't know if I'd want that.

I do like how ambitious Green's film sounded if it was going over budget - I mean Wheatley's version must have been bland AF if it was a traditional action film that they were quickly just going to make and cash in on.

I think rom what we now know to be true of Ben's script it was based on Shadow which would've followed that and came before all the talk of unifying the timeline.
I'd like to have seen what Misha was going to do but it doesn't sound like Alicia wanted that. I'm hoping that Alicia pushed for a more classic approach to the story and character because she expressed before that's what she wanted. On the other hand maybe Alicia's tastes preferred the straightforward vision that Ben and Amy were making and Misha couldve wrote something adventure or sci fi while she wanted something more actiony. I guess we will never know who is more valued in the situation because Graham King didn't seem satisfied with keeping either of them involved when packaging it. Bottom line to take away from this is Graham King atleast seems to care about the franchise and wants a hit.

Didn't they hire someone to specifically tidy up the action scenes Misha had written? Maybe she was struggling with getting those down. I do wonder now in what Alicia and Misha were in "discussions" over. It does sound like there was a final draft in place.
@TombRaiderLover, me too, me too.

So maybe Alicia is not completely out…?
If they want to go with the unification, Alicia fits for that too. And the sequel doesn’t have to continue where the first one left off. Just make a fresh story with Alicia as more experienced Lara ![]() |

Have to say if Netflix, Warner Brothers and Amazon "MGM"
![]() Netflix: Releasing an Action Movie with Jennifer Lopez this fall written by Misha Green. If it's a hit, they'll get her to write TOMB RAIDER. They want top talent; you have Alicia Vikander back. Downside: Streaming. Warner Brothers: Michael DeLuca likes working with high calibre talent and he put Misha Green on the project under his leadership and so he'll take an Oscar winner like Vikander too because that's what made his career in the early days with Paul Thomas Anderson etc. Upside: Theatrical release, they've cancelled Batgirl and Scooby Doo because their getting rid of their streaming service so their exclusively in the Theatrical release model now. Amazon MGM: Just obviously pick up where they left off because it is confirmed now that it will be a movie as that's all GK has the rights for so we need a movie star and not TV level talent. I think having no Star commitments was just GK's way of getting as many buyers as possible but if those are the three buyers at war; either way it's likely just going back to Vikander and maybe Green.
