Wow and this makes the reason why Amazon was confident to make a series and a movie ? They could hire Alicia again then.

It seems from this article that Phoebe will be involved in both the properties with the TV and Film in some capacity.

The sequel to the Tomb Raider motion picture reboot has been mired in controversy since first being revealed. Misha Green, Executive Producer of supernatural series Lovecraft Country on HBO, replaced Ben Wheatley at the helm with Alicia Vikander onboard to reprise her role as Lara Croft. MGM subsequently lost the film rights, sparking a bidding war for the IP.

Academy Award-winning actress Alicia Vikander is no longer attached to the project and the rights to the motion picture reverted back to Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics. Amazon has since reportedly won a massive rights deal for the Lara Croft-helmed franchise with a TV series and film planned.

Interesting. This makes me wonder if Unaratu was a villian or this was just their first meeting.

This movie looked great I hate that it wasnt made.

I think it would have been more of a "adversaries turned unlikely allies" sort of situation. Probably it was movie Unuratu's job to protect the dagger, explaining why she was attacking Lara, and they would probably partner up to stop Ana, Dominguez and the rest of Trinity from triggering the apocalypse.
