How does this person fly cheat in Tom Raider I (1996)?!

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here, so apologies if this question has been answered already...

On YouTube, one 'Mr Cheater' manages to do the following:

All of his videos are equally 'impressive' (I put this in inverted commas deliberately).

Now, having looked at the various debates here that have been held over the fly cheat, or lack of it, for TRI, how does he do it (admittedly I might have missed one or two)? Does he build his own levels and fly cheat? Does he fly in TRII or TRIII, as you can, and superimpose it onto TRI? Does he really know how to hack DOS?

I just wondered what you thought?

I haven't really searched a lot, but by seeing some of the comments, and my little knowledge in the TR mechanics, i've come to the conclusion that he's actually like "hacking" the game. Probably advanced programming?

I do not know anything about the flight patch and assumed it was applicable to all the old TRs.

So I guess the point here is that TR1 does not, under normal circumstances, allow you to use the flight patch.

However this has been done that is a fascinating YT speedrun video. Must include an all items cheat too (Lost Valley) and invincibility. Why are some of the lions in the Colosseum apparently dead, others inactive but the gorilla turns its head? The crocs and rats in The Cistern all seem to die as soon as LC enters the area too. Lots of other similar
things throughout.

All very odd and an interesting watch because of it.

That's a hack. There used to be a trainer back in the day that patched TR2/TR3 allowing you to go into swim mode with a user assigned shortcut key. I tried and failed to port this over to the TR1 3DFX EXE

The fly cheat or swim mode was used by core developers during testing the game. For getting from point A to B much quicker and also avoid trigger the system point.

You can use it in Sega saturn Tomb Raider Beta version

I came across of this website. You play TR1 with Dozy setting. I havn't tried it yet

the video looks like they used TR1 ATI patch, so maybe there is a fly mode hack for it somewhere

Sorry to bump but, I'm terribly interested in this also. TR1 would be so much easier to mod on the fly if we could literally fly. That definately looks like TombATI to me. That 'kill enemies' as they appear mod is pretty funny too
