3 stars out of 5. I finished Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King and his son over the weekend. It was a decent book but nothing phenomenal. I think one aspect that could leave a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths (mainly men's) is that a lot of the book focuses on Men Vs. Women and I don't think the topic is always handled fairly and does seems to lean towards the fact that most of women's problems are caused by men. However, I think if you dig a little deeper the main point of the book is that we do not treat people as individuals, both men and women believe they can speak and decide matters on behalf of their gender, which of course isn't right. On a separate note, right at the end of the book (I mean a matter of pages) they did seem to shoehorn in a random racial point. A character questioned whether they would of reacted differently if another character was white and not black, which would of been fine if the book addressed this topic earlier but it ended up just feeling a little forced. I think the book is definitely more Owen's than Stephens, as I've been told that Stephen doesn't really push any political statements in his work. So, I'd say if your a fan of Stephen's work to be cautious going into this book as I don't think it'll read like a Stephen King novel. |

Sapiens, it's about how humanity has always been a bunch of douche bags since the beginning of time, and this is documented through a history of archaeological discoveries and ancient records. Really get the impression the author is a misanthropist.

I just finished this absolute gem. I wanted to read the book before watching the film and I'm so pleased that I did.

I finished The Chalk Man and loved it. Great ending!
Will be getting The Taking of Annie Thorne from the same writer. Heard it's equally good as the first one. |
