Default Temple of the Cat mystery

l have finally been able to play the unfinished business levels for Tomb Raider 1 and have a slight problem. Possibly l will find the explanation later in the level, but each time Lara slides down one of the slopes on either side of the stairs she dies, but l cannot see why

l finally decided l would go down the blocks instead

No, you won't find an explanation...
I had the same problem, and I still haven't found the answer... Maybe they wanted to put fire down there, but they forgot, but accidentaly left the animation...

There was a chamber further on that had Skulls on the floor and she died there as well, l will go back to that last and see if there is anything there. Perhaps the floor of the big chamber was meant to have the skull symbols as well, beware of the toxic sand

Well, there's no visual indication, but I think it's definately meant to be a deadly floor... I never thought the developers might have forgotten something!

Maybe it's meant to look harmless.

I always just took it that it was a deadly floor - just took it as read, really.

Gullible? Moi?

l seem to be having a bad day, ran into the invisible toxic floor again, seems l will have to find another way in

l do believe the oh so inviting space has invisible spikes, because she dies the same if l shimmy along a bit and get up in the spiked section
EDIT - Stuck his tounge out, who would have guessed

You're not supposed to go on the tongue yet you need to get on the Cat's head and pull the switch in order to extended the tongue to complete the level. And the death from the slopes - it's actually hot sand at the bottom of the pit. Just like in the desert in the first level.
