Reshooting the film for like 70% and nearly doubling the original budget doesn't help either.

This is a very important thing to consider. People get so wrapped up in their hatred for The Last Jedi that they conveniently forget about this. Plus, if the boycotting of the movie actually was the main cause of the movie being a commercial flop, then they shot themselves in the foot, as Disney went ahead and cancelled plans for other movies based around individual characters after Solo bombed.

Also, consider the release window: Star Wars had not been in a May slot since 2005. Other films were being shown: Infinity War was still playing and raking in money despite being released a month prior, you had Deadpool 2... it was just a crowded release window for a film that already had less excitement than previous instalments as soon as it was announced.

To further this Solo - from memory - only released 6 months after TLJ which was a pretty bad move considering how TLJ was received.

I don't care what people say about The Last Jedi, the film was directed pretty much perfectly. You might strongly disagree with the script, that I can give you, but the actual directing was great.

A trilogy with an entirely new cast would likely be very good!

It wasn't particularly something I noticed at the time but this clip of stuntmen picking apart how naff the throne room fight actually is kind of an eye opener. i've seen a couple of vids talking about how this scene wasn't very well done when you look at what the guards are doing.
I do remember feeling like there was something absurdly unrealistic about the concept of them getting out of this scinareo without getting seriously messed up. https://youtu.be/OL83p4GxAvw?t=326 Last edited by redfox45; 07-11-19 at 16:54. |

I already noticed it in the theater, but the same goes for the Dark Knight Rises. The problem is using single takes like this is incredibly hard to accomplish. I like the scene stylistically, but yeah, the choreography leaves to be desired.

Can't believe no one hasn't posted the new trailer for The Mandalorian:
I am REALLY excited for this.
